2. First
• Firstly we have seen that there is a scene about a man is tying up on the
chair which can compare with our scene that a girl is tied up, they are similar
because they are both in thriller genre and both have tying up scenes ,
which matches quite a lot .
• But the film also has some differences like the character in the film is a male
but in our thriller is female .Another difference is that in that film (Hostel) the
actor is sitting on the chair and looking in a more nervous way and with no
costume , always naked .
3. • In our thriller , however, the girl is just in position with not quite a lot
actions , and stays a little bit calm and looking down , with costume
white and black
• The actions is the thing that matches a lot because they are both
about the characters who is tied up there is being killed by someone
which is kind of the similar story line .
• But the editing techniqus are different in some ways for example the
shot duration, in the movie it is really short and with the angle of
long shot, the character is based in the midle of the frame in order to
show where the whole scene is taking place . But in our thriller the
shot duration is longer and the close up of the girl did last for longer
and most of the framing is occupied by the girl so this tends to show
who the characters is and so on
4. Second
• Second tied up scene that we found matches with the the secondary media product
which is the video game called Rise of the Toomb Rader and there is a scene of a girl
is tied up on the chair which is more similar with ours scene compare with the one
from hostel .
• As what can be seen here ther are quite smilar even our make up of the girl matches
with the game character as well and all shown they are tied up. By looking at the
facial expressions they also look the same somehow , looks like they are all out of
energy like a victim. Also, all in dark color and created a kind of victim look even more
by the costumes , they don't have quite a lot of behaviors actually .
• By all the examples above , these two kinds of scenes match well and hence there
are not many differences except some in details such as different people, different
color of costume etc.
5. • In other aspects, the editing techniques are almost the same like the shot
duration. The pace and the transitions are not obvious in these two scenes
and the effects are all showing the girls' situations and meant to show the
whole characters .
• For the cameras they are in the same camera angles ( mid shot ) to show
clearly what their facial expressions are and who the characters are in an
even clearer way . However, in the game scene at first there is unclear bit fir
the girl means she is dizzy , that has better effect on that . And, the framing
is similar .
6. • As for the behavior, they are all attending to watch the event but as what I have mentioned before
maybe it is in different atmosphere .
• And in two different films they all look different as their behavior , for example, in the film they are
chtting while watching and the atmosphere is quite relaxing but in our scene they look serious
without conversation which seems like they take this event seriously with making notes which in
turn tells that the actions are also different .
• As for the editing techniques , the shot duration is similar and lasted for almost that long and after
this audience watching scene they all transfermed to the event scenes so the transition effects
are similar too.
• For camera angles , in the film is like long shot and this is just about showing the action and the
behavior about the audience , nothing deeper meanings, and the actors are in most area of the
camera . In our film, however, it is in extreme long shot and the audience who are watching just in
a small part of the frame. Because in our thriller is just meant to show this is creepy and the
people are used to emphasize the atmosphere of the creepyness .
• Lastly. , the title front is different but it is not a big problem , and I prefer our title font .
7. Third
• The second comparison that I made is the outside of the
stage like people are watching what is going on . We
picked up a scene from the Hunger Game to compare
with our thriller scene of he Chinese students are
watching what is going on and taking notes, this is the
similar parts of the photos .But, the difference is that in
the film the audience looks relaxing and they are sitting
there to watch what is going on.But, in our thriller the
outside audience looks formal and are taking notes
which seems they are not just watching and so that in
our thriler I think this scene create more creepyness .
8. Comparison 4
• Another scene is still selected from Hostel which matches with our
prop scenes , and it is a scene that shows the props of thrillers for
exampe knives, guns and so on . In these scenes , we used the
props to create the tension and catch the audience attention, and
the audience can realise what is going on after , also it is the signal
for the audience to pay attention and the violence scene is coming
soon, etc.
• As what you can see it is quite similar as shown the props to the
audience to create the thriller tension but in the film it has more
various of props which means more tension can be created in that
film .
9. • The title font looks different but in Hostel the title
font has been made in golden way which fits the
background really well ,because in our thriller
the introduction bit has the background as black
out so white color fits that more
