MOBILITY track - Tuesday 28th "To create more sustainable transportation systems, cities need a variety of different measures. When it comes to publicly subsidized transportation services, also economical aspects are crucial. Especially in rural areas, viable mobility services as well as public transportation are hard to achieve. One solution to tackle these problems is to make better use of the existing fleet capacity. In ALPIO-project, funded by Sitra, the aim was to create a digital platform where existing publicly subsidized journeys (mainly made by taxis and small busses) could be offered to new customers. In this presentation, we will go through the successes and failures of the project: How did we achieve the ambitious goals of the project, what should have been done differently and what should be taken into consideration in similar development projects in the future."
