Scottish Licensing Law

This engaging and interactive elearning course ensures members of staff on licensed premises in Scotland have the training
(and proof of training) required by the Scottish Licensing Act 2005. The act states in paragraph 6, schedule 3 that members
of staff who are not personal licence holders are required to achieve a level of competence in retailing alcohol. This means all
members of staff must have a basic level of training on the liquor licensing laws for Scotland.
The regulations set out 16 points that the training must cover and state that the training provided should be of at least two
hours duration. In four modules, the Scottish Licensing Law elearning course covers all of these mandatory requirements.
Licensed premises are obligated to keep a record of training undertaken by all current staff members. These records are
inspected by the Licensing Standards Officer (LSO). That’s why a printable certificate is available for signature by the Personal
Licence Holder upon successful completion of this elearning course, conforming to the inspection criteria of an LSO.
