Oman chooses Certiport to certify 93,000 civil service employees
The Information Technology Authority (ITA) of Oman's most
ambitious learning and certification initiative to date is based on the
global digital literacy standards of Certiport Internet and Computing
Core Certification (IC³®). The initiative will certify the country's
93,000 civil service employees over a three-year period.
Commencing in phases, more than 200 individuals will certify and
receive advanced training to master global digital literacy standards
and professional instructor methodologies. These trainers will then
become the vehicle for rolling out learning and certification essential
to the GITTC program for employees of various government
branches. GITTC will become an employment boon for Omanis hired
to support the initiative both now—as trainers or technical support
workers—and in the future—with new roles created to strengthen
Oman's emerging e-government projects.
Quote:
"This initiative will truly be borne by the people of Oman. Transferring the knowledge to
implement and conduct this vital initiative from our organization to Omani citizens will lead to the
complete 'Omanization' of the GITTC program."
