Date: 29/4/2017
Time: 12:00 PM
Marwadi University, Faculty of Management had organized an industrial visit to Parle,
Ahmedabad Unit on 29th April, 2017. The purpose behind conducting such visit was to give practical Exposure
and knowledge to the students of MBA. College buses were arranged to facilitate pick-up and Drop of Students
and convenient transportation.
All buses were on their way to Ahmedabad at 6:00 AM. Students were enjoying the
travelling with various games like Antakshri and singing the songs to have fun. We reached at Parle around
12:00 PM. We were welcomed by Mr.Bhupendra and were given way towards Auditorium by him. We had seen
a clip produced by Parle which demonstrated the production of various Parle products like ParleG, Monaco,
Kreams, Krackjack, 20-20, Melody, Mango Bite, Kachha Mango bite, Poppins, Mazelo etc. That Video also
contained Advertisements of the Products. Afterwards we were divided in Groups of 15 students to visit the
factory. There are 119 Units of Parle and The Unit which we had visited was manufacturing ParleG and 20-20
biscuits. The process of making biscuits is as under:
1) Raw Material
2) Mixing
3) Moulding
4) baking
5) packaging
Parle is having Asia's Biggest Oven to bake Biscuits. We had firstly visited the Moulding
Process. Mixing process was Beneath Moulding floor which was operated through machinery. Before Mixing
Stage there are certain Quality Checks which are performed to ensure the best quality of Parle biscuits.
Vendors to supply the raw materials are already identified and specific Contracts has already been done with
them to meet the demand of the biscuits. Raw Materials Include sugar, glucose, vegetable ghee, flour etc. After
Moulding process, we went to baking room. It has conveyors to move moulded biscuits to baking zone. The
temperature of oven was around 270 C. Baked Biscuits are again moved to cooling zone for making it normal
for final distribution to the customers. Packaging was last step of whole process. Packing material also printed
2. in the same Unit. The timings of the Processes are as under:
3 Min for baking
7 Min for cooling
2 Min for packing
the biscuits which are fell down from the conveyor belt will be removed from process and kept separately for
quality reasons. Also over baked biscuits will be again sent to Mumbai for Disposal since it will be considered
as Wastage. Parle has followed theory of economies of scale to maintain the same price all over India. We had
also enjoyed fresh biscuits on the same spot and tasted the India's largest selling biscuits. Afterwards we
visited Alpha one Mall, Ahmedabad in our remaining time. We reached at Rajkot around 11:30 Pm.
Overall, the Industrial Visit was full of Information and it helped us to relate our MBA
Subjects like production & Operation Management easily. It was fun to learn practical aspects of the Subject.
We are thankful to our Co-ordinator Faculty Prashant Biswas Sir and Our HOD Mr. Amar Vijay Gandhi for
conducting such a wonderful visit for students of MBA SEM 2.
