2. Arena
I strive to work within the music industry as a
booking agent. I don’t have a specific region
in the U. S. that I have to stay in, preferably it
would be in the eastern boarder of the
country, but I can make a home wherever
my career takes me.
3. Identity
My name is Mikayla. I am from a small town in Maine and I
always try to bring that small town persona with me wherever I
go, meaning I like to get to know everyone I see on a daily basis
and genuinely want you to know I’m here if you ever need
anything, just like your next door neighbor. I’ve been through a
lot so I’m tough as nails and I’m always willing to fight for my
people and what’s right.
4. Skills
I have five years of experience in customer service which helped
develop my ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with
clients, two years of employee management, three years of
experience with conflict resolution, seven years within the music
industry, and quick on uptake.
5. Profession
As a booking agent I will base a lot of my
work on relationships I’ve built with my co-
workers, employers, clients, and other figures
throughout the industry. I am the person you
go to if you really need things done and done
right. I have extreme attention to details and I
always come prepared to work. I create a
close connection with all my clients giving me
the ability to provide better and more
personalized services.
6. Credentials
Although I don’t have the longest list of references the ones I do have will tell
you how highly reliable I am. That being said I will work hard to prove to my new
employers that I am worthy of being entrusted with important duties. I can also
create credibility by writing articles on my portfolio website and/or on other
credible websites.
7. Promise
I can promise that I will come into every day of work,
enthusiastic and ready to do my best work. I work hard to
make sure there are no communication errors by always
asking questions and confirming details.
8. Positioning
I should be hired instead of my competition because I will not only do my job
fantastically but I will bring a positive environment to the workplace. I genuinely
care for the people I work with and many of the people I’m competing against
will lack that and one bad person can bring an entire workplace down. I also
have years of experience with conflict resolution and can usually find a fix to a
problem.
9. Audience
My Audience will be, for now, a vast majority of booking agents and
heads of companies that I apply to. Future employers will be looking
for a reliable, educated, well spoken, and creative individual that will
help their company grown and potentially make the company money.
Potential employers will be highly opinionated about almost everything
from past employment to the words you choose during the interview.
When I am a booking agent my audience with be mostly made up of
artists, artist managers, promoters, and venue management.
10. Networking & Marketing
Once I start taking classes with Full Sail on campus I will utilize all of the
networking available to me. I will both network with fellow students and at the
networking events help at the school. I will use the connections to hopefully
leverage an internship that will further develop the list of references and build a
reputation for myself as reliable. I can also network online with Full Sail’s online
students and continue posting articles wherever and whenever I can.
11. Competitors
I will have a lot of competitors but I anticipate a lot
of them will be Full Sail students and students from
similar colleges in similar programs. One thing that
sets me apart from the rest is how young I was
when I got into the music industry. Another thing
that helps me rise to the top is my pure enthusiasm
and excitement I have for my work.
12. Professional
Development
One of the areas I need to improve on is definitely my online
presence. Right now my online presence isn’t messy, but it doesn’t
have much content. I want to improve my online presence so that
a potential employer says ‘WOW’ when they look at my online
presence. I will achieve this my making sure to finish my portfolio
website, start to write blog posts on my portfolio website and other
credited websites, and continue to update my LinkedIn profile. I
can also become proficient and even get certificates in certain
areas like Microsoft Office. I will absolutely use my professors to
my advantage to help guide me along the way but I will also look
for a mentor outside of school at an internship.
I feel if I dedicate eight hours a week to bettering my online
presence or writing a blog post I can significantly change my
professional profile.
13. Goals
I want potential employers to be able understand who I am as a
professional and a person. I will always be seeking brand awareness and
especially now while I’m still starting my professional career. I want clean
up the images that are of me online by posting more pictures that reflect
what I want to be seen in a professional manner and burying the other
images that aren’t as professional looking.
The overall purpose for personal branding, to me, is to help me make
connections in the industry and ultimately help me get a good job and be
successful.
