Corrosion is the gradual destruction of materials usually metal by
chemical or electrochemical reaction with the environment and it is
costing companies and governments around the world billions of dollars
annually. A study by G2MT Laborites estimates that corrosion cost an
estimated $278 billion a year in the United States and approximately
$23.6 billion a year in Canada. In the following paper, I will discuss the
causes of corrosion, what is being done to prevent it and the hazards
associated with the prevention methods companies are using on a
person’s health and as well as the environment.
