To whom it may concern:
I would like to take this opportunity to offer myself as a candidate for any Social Studies
teaching positions in your respective school district. As you will see, I am currently
employed by the New York City Department of Education at Franklin Delano Roosevelt
High School in Brooklyn, New York, 11204.
My main goal as a Social Studies teacher is to help all my students reach their full learning
potential. By planning lessons that include a variety of instructional methods such as
hands on activities, critical thinking exercises, the integration of new technologies, and
cooperative learning, my students are given opportunities to develop the skills they need
to be successful in life.
As a student athlete and coach for many years, I have had to develop strong time
management skills to satisfactorily complete all tasks required of me. My competitive
nature and life experience has helped shape my belief that if you work hard you can
achieve any goal. I have always recognized that the teachers in my life have played a
major role in my success. It is for that reason that I feel compelled to give back to
students the knowledge and lessons life has taught me.
My unique talents and passion for teaching enhances the skills I have developed to
becoming an effective teacher. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss any open
Social Studies positions in your school. Please do not hesitate to call (631-742-2013) or
email (MichaelJScherer78@gmail.com ) if you have any questions regarding this letter or
my resume.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Scherer, Jr.
