Session6
1. Globalisation and economic processes.
Financialization of the global economy and
the neoliberal imperative
Session 6
2. Neoliberalism
◦ Neoliberalism has become a dirty word in our
contemporary world. From right-wing politicians and
supporters simply dismiss as a category of analysis, to
anti-globalisation movements which use it as an
umbrella term to describe everything that they consider
is wrong with our contemporary world.
◦ Today, it seems the word has lost its meaning, and
people as different as Claudia Lopez and Donald
Trump can be framed as ¨neoliberal¨.
◦ But what is Neoliberalism? And ideology? a Political or
an Economical theory? Is it the same as corporativism
or financialisation of the economy? How it relates to
globalisation?
◦ This session will explore these questions
