WhyStudyGovernment?
Government influence is in
everywhere from what kind of
classes a college student must take
to what types of taxes we must pay.
It benefits all citizens to know about
the function of our government and
know how to influence it for our
benefit. What the short video for
more information.

Self-Directed Learning
To be successful in an online
class, you will need to be a self-
directed learner. A self-directed
learner is responsible for their
own learning and is self-
motivated. Don’t know what
that is or need a refresher?
Watch the video for more
information.!

Saving your document as a
PDF “locks in” your
formatting and it will look
the same after you submit.
Never copy and paste your
document.
Submit as a PDF
When emailing me, include
all the information I will need
to quickly help you.. This
includes your name, class and
section numbers (link will
show you how to find your
section #)and any other
specifics such as the name
and date of an assignment.
Weekly To-Do Lists
Read the Syllabus
Look at the Course Schedule
every Sunday and record
what you need to do in a
notebook including how
many pages you may need
to read or what
assignments are due that
week.
Write Effective Emails
The syllabus is your
contract for the semester.
Knowing the expectation,
materials you will need,
and what will be covered is
information you will need
for a successful semester.
Get a Giant Desk
Calendar
Chunk It
Buy a giant desk calendar,
and using the course
schedule, write out everything
that is assinged and the due
dates fot the entire
semester. Hang the calendar
in a place you always pass.
Break your work into
smaller parts. For example,
if you must read 70 pages
by next week, break it up
and read 7 pages/day. If
you need to write an essay,
write a paragraph/day.
Discussions
Write your post on a Word
document instead of on the
Discussion page. You can
check for spelling and
grammar, plus you will have a
copy if Blackboard glitches.
When done, simply copy and
paste into the Discussion
window.
Visit the Help Folder
Often
Find a place to study
and log on to the class
at the same time if
possible. Expect to spend
6 or more hours/week
for this course.
Be Consistent
I’ve recorded course
videos and have a
Reading and Writing
folder. Both are located
on the Information Page.
The page link is on the
Navigation Panel in
Blackboard.
Visit the Q & A Discussion
At the top of the Discussion
Page, there is a Q&A forum.
You can post your questions
there to be answered.. Of course,
if do not want your question
made public, you can email me..
If I feel your question may help
others, I may post it without
your name.
It’s important to take care
of yourself, so schedule time
to take a walk, watch
your favorite show, or some
other activity you enjoy. Or,
just do nothing!
