This document discusses the evolution of wireless technology from 0G to 5G. It describes each generation of technology including their features and limitations. 0G allowed for basic voice calls using analog signals, while 1G provided similar functionality but with digital signals. 2G introduced SMS and better voice quality. 3G enabled faster data speeds up to 2Mbps for activities like video calls. 4G provides speeds up to 1Gbps for multimedia applications anywhere. The document outlines the expected capabilities of 5G such as speeds over 1Gbps, low latency, high bandwidth, and support for new applications through technologies like artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
3. INTRODUCTION
• In this presentation we will discuss 5G wireless systems, better known as 5th generation
mobile technology.
• WHAT IS WIRELESS?
• Mobile wireless industry had started its technology creation, revolution and evolution since
early 1970’s.
• 5G wireless technology can change the way we use wireless gadgets by providing very
high bandwidth.
• The 5G should be featured with intelligent technology that interconnects the entire world
without limits.
• 5G should add a number of added advantages over the present 4G technology

• The Zero Generation (0G) of mobile started in
1945
• Mobile Telephone Service, based on
“HANDOVER”.
• Loggers, construction foremen, realtors, and
celebrities. They used them for basic voice
communication
• Technologies which were used in 0G
- PTT (Push to Talk)
- MTS (Mobile Telephone System)
- IMTS (Improved Mobile Telephone System)
6. 1G TECHNOLOGY(First Generation)
16 October 2015 6
• 1G refers to the first generation of wireless telephone
technology, mobile telecommunications which was first
introduced in 1980 s
• It allows the voice calls in 1 country.
• 1G network use analog signal.
• Speed up to 2.4 Kbps
• Based on analog system
• Technologies which were used in 1G
- PTT
- MTS
- AMTS
- IMTS
7. 2G TECHNOLOGY(Second Generation)
16 October 2015 7
• Developed in 1990
• Speed up to 64 Kbps
• Voice transmission with digital signal
• Services such are digital voice & sms with
more clarity
• Based on digital system
• GSM
• It provides better quality and capacity
8. 2.75G (EDGE)TECHNOLOGY
16 October 2015 8
• 2.5G is sometimes described as 2G Cellular
Technology combined with GPRS and GSM.
• 2.75G is popularly known as EDGE.
• Features Include
Send/Receive E-mail Messages
Streaming and downloading videos
Speed : 180 kbps
Camera Phones
Download a Mp3 song faster compare to
2G
9. 3G TECHNOLOGY
16 October 2015 9
• 3G technology refer to third generation which
was introduced in year 2000s.
• Data Transmission speed increased from 144kbps-
2Mbps.
• Providing Faster Communication
• Superior Voice Quality
• Send/Receive Large Email Messages
• High Speed Web / More Security/Video
Conferencing / 3D Gaming / TV Streaming/
Mobile TV
10. 4G TECHNOLOGY (Anytime, Anywhere)
16 October 2015 10
• 4G technology refer to or short name of
fourth Generation which was started from late
2004s.
• Capable of providing up to 300 Mbps speed.
• One of the basic term used to describe 4G is
MAGIC.
MAGIC:
• Mobile Multimedia
• Anytime Anywhere
• Global Mobility Support
• Integrated Wireless Solution
• Customized Personal Services

• Both Cellular and Broadband Multimedia
Services Everywhere
• More Security, Capacity and Data rate.
• Smooth Global Roaming Ubiquitously with
Lower Cost.
• Technologies
3GPP :3rd Generation Partnership Project
LTE :Long Term Evolution
12. DRAWBACKS OF 1G, 2G, 3G, & 4G
1G
• Poor Voice Quality
• Poor Battery Life
• Large Phone Size
• No Security
• Limited Capacity
• Poor Handoff Reliability
2G
• Unable to handle complex data
such as videos
• Requires strong digital signal to
help mobile phone works. If
there is no network coverage in
any specific area, digital signal
would weak.

• Expensive fees for 3G Licenses
Services
• It was a challenge to build the
infrastructure for 3G
• High Bandwidth Requirement
• Expensive 3G Phones
• Large Cell Phones
4G
• Battery uses is more
• Hard to implement
• Need complicated hardware
• Expensive equipment required to
implement next generation
network.
