Community health centers are federally funded organizations that provide primary care services in medically underserved areas and to underserved populations. There are over 1,200 centers with more than 8,200 service sites located in schools, hospitals, and other community places. The centers provide a variety of preventive, chronic, dental, and mental health care services to over 21.7 million patients annually through more than 86 million patient visits. Anyone can seek affordable care at a community health center regardless of ability to pay.
