3. Early Life...
(1955...)
Gates was born in Seattle,
Washington on October 28,
1955.
He is the son of William
Gates and Mary Gates.
His father was a prominent
lawyer, and his mother served
as the board of directors for
Interstate Banc System and
the United Way.
Gates has one elder sister,
Kristi, and one younger
sister, Libby.

4. School Time...
(1968...)
At 13, he enrolled in the
private Lakeside School.
When he was in the eighth
grade, the Mothers Club at
the school used proceeds
rummage sale to buy a
General Electric (GE)
computer for the school's
students.
Gates took an interest in
programming the GE system in
BASIC.
He wrote his first computer
program on this machine: An
implementation of tic-tac-toe
that allowed users to play
games against the computer.

5. College time....

Gates graduated from Lakeside
School in 1973, and was a
National Merit Scholar. He
scored 1590 out of 1600 on the
SAT and enrolled at Harvard
University at Cambridge.
While at Harvard, he met
Steve Ballmer, who would
later succeed Gates as CEO of
Microsoft (from 2000 to
2014).

Gates did not have a definite study
plan while a student at Harvard.
Gates remained in contact with
Paul Allen, and he joined him at
Honeywell in 1974.
Gates was attracted by the
machine and how it would
always execute software code
perfectly.
At age 17, Gates formed a
business partnership with Allen,
called Traf-O-Data, to make
traffic counters based on the
Intel 8008 processor.

market share, overtaking Mac, Operating System of

unsurpassed. Over half a century, his projects have
repositioned and jet propelled an entire industry. Today,
innovation, creativity, and design are spearheaded by his
ingenuity and foresight.

1. Microsoft - Originally a company that wrote applications and
languages
2. Had not written any OS until IBM approached them for help
on its pc
3. Bill Gates purchased the operating system known as CPM
DOS from a small software company in Seattle
4. Leased the OS to IBM as Microsoft Disc Operating System
(MS-DOS).
5. Lease agreement gave IBM unrestricted use of DOS.
6. When COMPAQ approached Microsoft about licensing MS-
DOS, Microsoft leased it to them on a per PC basis,

to change the world in several ways:
• It paved the way for manufacturing the Smart TVs of today. The
features these TVs offer were first introduced by Microsoft
through its Media Center.
• By launching Xbox Live, the company familiarized the world
with the idea of online gaming; a concept later followed by
Sony PlayStation.
• Microsoft introduced the Pocket Personal Computer (PC) and
Windows Mobile the direct precursor to tablets and smart
phones. In 2001, Gates announced that he was already using a
tablet, and predicted it to become the most popular form of
computer in the future.

• Recession risks are rising as well as inflation
• If inflation is not brought under control soon, it will force
interest rates significantly higher, which could very
possibly pop the massive global debt bubble and lead to a
severe recession or even depression.

into recession is the labor shortage
