A Set of classes or a plan of study on a particular
subject, usually to an exam or qualification.
Designing a Course
1. Begin the process early, giving yourself at least six months to
plan a new course.
2. Define course goals.
3. Determine course content.
4. Develop teaching methods and tools.
5.Determine how you will evaluate student learning. (Plan
assignments and exams.)
6.Select text(s) and other materials.
7.Select text(s) and other materials.
8.Develop the course schedule.
9.Write the course syllabus.
10.Refine the Course Design.
What is curriculum???
The subjects comprising a course of study.
Curriculum refers to the means and materials with
which students will interact for the purpose of
achieving identified educational outcomes. Curriculum
includes course of studies, methods of teaching extra
and co curricular activities in addition to the regular
programs.
What is career?
Def. (Oxford English Dictionary)
A person’s course or progress through life.
It also pertains to his occupational or profession that usually
involves special
training or formal education and is considered to be a person’s
lifework.
What is career development?
Career development is an ongoing process of gaining knowledge and
improving skills that will help an individual to establish a career plan.
WHY CAREER DEVELOPMENT?
Today’s Generation Students…….
 Never plan for the future.
 Follow the crowd
 Choose by influence of others.
 Accept the parent’s verdict(decision) by force
 Get tempted by current trends
 Jump into any career
 Lack motivation
 Fail to ‘’discover their lives’’
 Live in a fantasy world
