Audience Expectations for a Thriller film
James
Q: What was the last psychological thriller you watched?
A: Spectre
Q: Were your expectations met?
A: Yes
Q: Why?
A: Because it kept me entertained and was a brilliant thriller film. It really depicted the
genre at its finest and was a good Bond movie in general
Q: Would you watch it again?
A: Yes absolutely, it was definitely one of the best James Bond films I have watched so far,
but not only that, it was also excellent in getting me to think about the details of the film
and how it was unfolding throughout the plot.
Louie
Q: What was the last psychological thriller you watched?
A: Fight Club
Q: Did you enjoy it?
A: Loved it, thought it was a really great movie.
Q: Were your expectations met?
A: Yeah they were.
Q: Was it clever in how it psychologically got you thinking about each detail in the movie?
A: It was very clever, was a bit strange though.
Q: Would you watch it again for a second time?
A: Probably.
Harry
Q: What would you like to see in a psychological thriller?
A: Something that is quite hard to understand, having to listen throughout the filmto
understand what it is exactly about, and at the end there is a massive bombshell where it’s
all mental and you question yourself about the ending of the film.
Q: Do you enjoy psychological thrillers?
A: Yes, I think psychological thrillers are great because they really get the viewer to analyse
each and every detail the movie presents to a high degree, helping explain the plot of which
is going on.

How I and my group will incorporate the ideas of this feedback into our film
This feedback is useful for me and my group to help us decide on the type of plot, camera
techniques and editing skills we will use when producing our 2 minute thriller film. It is
evident from these 3 ‘interviews’ that the audience is looking for a thriller film which is not
only entertaining to sit through and watch, but also has a plot which is intriguing and
somewhat unpredictable. The audience seems to be interested in types of psychological
thrillers which make you pay attention to minute detail in helping understand the plot of the
film.
The audience also seemto be interested in having parts of the plot unveiled to them slowly
throughout the action. This can be accomplished through the editing. By sequencing the
clips together carefully and using pan crop, the editor can create parts in the filmwhich are
interesting and tense to watch, rapidly showing the viewer the unfolding plot.
Making sure there are plenty of filmed scenes of the area we are filming in and its
surroundings is crucial in helping show the viewer the atmosphere the scene is set in, this
adds extra detail to the filmand some of these surrounding clips can be incorporated into
the scenes. Having background music which also fits the scene is important in showing the
audience that the filmis a thriller and depending on the type of scene the effects may be
tense or slowly building up to a tense state.
The filming will have to be done precisely in order to make sure that we can edit with the
clips. Filming will include scenes of the plot itself and its surrounding areas to fit the editing
style we will use while creating our film.
