2. ο My media product, βTill Death do us partβ is a horror thriller. My overall
product incorporates the generic conventions of a thriller. My media product
has the conventions of a thriller as it has a sense of suspense, tension and
excitement which are one of the three elements of a thriller but also because
my product is a horror thriller I hope that it leads to giving the audience a high
level of anticipation as it has more of these elements to it in my product. My
product was also rated 15 so the fact myself and my group made this product we
had to be careful on what we could and couldnβt show by following the bbfc on
what was suitable for rated 15 which was quite challenging for us. The product
we created develops the horror conventions as we have a leader in our product
which is the dominating female character which is the killer and the use of
weapons to kill. However, it also challenges the conventions as normally in a
horror the outcome is a good person always survives which in this case no one
knows because we havenβt shown this in our product which leaves a cliff hanger
to my product. This overall gives an indication to the audience my product is a
horror thriller as it holds some of the elements of both genres. My product
could indicate some similarities, influence from other thrillers such as
Reservoir Dogs. This has influenced my product due to the torturing our male
character in a chair and the unusual, sick behaviour from the dominant
character.
3. ο My media product does represent a particular social group
due to the age rating of fifteen its aimed at the audience of
that age or above and itβs unisex as there is female character
and a male character in my product. Class would be
represented as upper/middle class as the characters look
well dressed, male characters wearing a suit. The gender is
represented in a different way, whereas normally a male
would be seen as the strong more dominant character and
the women to be a more passive possibly weaker character.
However, in my product these roles are switched over as the
female character has more dominance over the βweakβ male
character throughout my opening sequence.
4. ο I donβt think this could be produced by a major Hollywood studio because I donβt think it would do as
well as I would like to think it would I think it would need more of story line to it and because itβs
aimed at specific audience and due to the age rating I think my horror thriller product wouldnβt be as
successful due to the amount of restrictions, what you canβt show or that isnβt suitable for a rated 15
but I think if it were possible to up the rating and make some changes it could make a huge
difference, so I think it would do well as a TV movie. This is because I think it would make a good TV
drama as it could go on and be continuous but the story line could be changed slightly to make each
episode slightly different but keeping the audiences that decide to watch it interested still.
ο The Mis-en-scene of my horror thriller is two dark locations, a red room (developing photographs)
which the setting for that is a dark red room with a desk full of chopped out words from a newspaper
and photographs all over the desk followed by a string which attached to it is a line full of
photographs, with what looks like a sort of blood on in a symbol of an βXβ across each one. This gives
of a creepy kind of feel to the room. The second room is a dirty old, dark, empty room. Apart from a
chair some knives. This room gives off the vibe of being dangerous or scary as thereβs little in their
and the location of this room could be anywhere which makes it more interesting but spooky at the
same time. Mis-en-scene is important in my product because it sets the setting, location which helps
reinforce that my products genre which is a horror thriller and the setting we had chosen for this
works well as it conforms with a thriller setting.

5. ο The audience age range is from the age of 15 onwards, I say
onwards because I think this is something for everyone
meaning anyone who would watch or be interested in a
horror thriller. The audience are being put in the position
of the female character as they will be following her
through out the whole time witnessing her thoughts and
plans, her actions and behaviour, getting into the
characters head by viewing her life and decisions and
whatβs next and feeling on the edge. Which creates a sense
of suspense as you donβt know what will happen next and
what to expect from this deluded female killer character.

6. ο Looking back when I first started this product I think Iβve learnt that
research and planning is very important. Getting a clear understanding
of genre and exploring different genres has helped me a great amount
as Iβve researched what the codes and conventions of certain genres, itβs
helped myself and my group come to the decision we had made by
choosing to make our product a horror thriller. Secondly, storyboarding
is another important process as my group and I did before the making
of our product. Which was putting our ideas together and having to
think about what shots we needed to capture, the duration of each shot
and what order to edit , add transitions in for certain shots. This was
challenging but we had to take time to think about these 3 main things
and filling 2 whole minutes for our product and using the storyboard as
a guideline for our opening sequence which helps make the process
smoother. After using the cameras, tripods and Macs I feel more
confident with using the equipment after learning and experimenting
with them whilst making this product.
