2. The Foot
Foot is one of the three points of constraint of the cyclist respect the bike, the foot’s link is
guarantee by a cleat located in the cycling shoes in the forefoot areas.
An important topic is analyze ankle’s mobility in order to check knee movement and hip.

3. In bike we have three point of constrain.
We would like to discuss about the correct approach in
cycling biomechanics according our experiences related foot
constraint.
Is interesting to analyze the role of the foot in cycling and
how many foot’s pathologies can affect the efficiency and
performance in bike.

12. With the Movit
System (Captiks Srl) it
is possible to analyze
the whole body
movements.
It is easy to obtain the
joint angles between
two body segments

13. FROM ABSOLUTE ANGLES TO RELATIVE ANGLES
RELATIVE ANGLES
(Joint Angles)
The angle between
two adjacent body
segments
ABSOLUTE ANGLES
(Segment Angles)
The angle between a
body segment and the
horizontal line

cyclist with 5 sensors:
TRUNK ANGLES
PELVIS ANGLES
RIGHT HIP ANGLES
RIGHT KNEE ANGLES

20. Biomovie is a software to video tracking analysis, we use video to detect
movement and analize bike biomechanics, including ankle mobility.
