Personal statement After finishing University in 2009 with a Class One Masters in Civil and Structural
Engineering I progressed into the inspection industry, primarily within the construction and
rail sectors. More recently I’ve moved into Oil and Gas as an asset integrity inspector.
Knowledge gained from my degree combined with new skills and certifications in Non
Destructive Testing (NDT) and rope access has allowed me to provide detailed structural
inspections for various clients throughout both the UK and Australia.
7 years of hands-on experience, 4 of which as a team leader, has given me a good depth
of knowledge over various work scopes and allowed me to gain skills above and beyond
those acquired at University; leadership, communication, team working and team
management, the ability to adapt and solve problems as and when they develop, and
above all, keeping everyone safe in the workplace. I believe I have the ability to focus on
quality, reliability, economy, and sustainability with a strong emphasis on woking to
industry specifications, codes and procedures.
With a strong base of engineering knowledge and in-service inspection experience I
believe I now have a good grounding to move into more senior roles as an Asset Integrity
Engineer in the near future.

2. Relevant Experience Asset Integrity Inspector,
Oilfield Testing Services/Perenco. Sept 2015-March 2016
Provided detailed inspection reports on an array of offshore assets within the North Sea;
pipelines, pressure vessels, tanks and various structures; access platforms, stairways,
deck supports, conductors. I drafted isometric drawings for pipelines as part of the
inspection process and utilised knowledge of in service failures to target inspection areas.
With my further training and experience in rope access I was responsible of the safety of
the work crews whilst carrying out any specialist access and work at height inspections.
NDT Technician/Rope Access Supervisor ,
IRIS NDT–Various periods, Dec 2012-Aug 2015
Used Risk Based Management (RBI) to conduct NDT inspections on pipework and
vessels access the Phillips 66 Refinery. I used my qualifications in NDT to assess and
quantify material losses to many parts within refinery flow processes and help to develop
areas for future inspection focus. I mainly worked on high pressure pipelines but also on
many of the large storage tanks across site. I was responsible for structural inspections
within some of the tanks, assessing roof trusses and outer shells for sectional losses. I
believe I helped to contribute to the great safety record on site with my responsible work
ethics and quality team leading.
Structural Inspector,
Amey Consulting - Oct 2010 - Sept 2012
Carried out significant structural inspections as part of the rail and highways division.
Primarily masonry and steel bridge structures on the rail network along with many brick
tunnel ventilation shafts. I delivered quality inspections for many of the UK’s most iconic
rail structures, including the Royal Border Bridge in Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Utilising my
knowledge of dynamic and static loads I helped to identify areas most susceptible to
failure and provide targeted inspections within short inspection windows. I developed
crucial skills in communication and team leading, with problem solving throughout during
this period.
Non-Relevant
Experience. Played a critical role in the filming of a TV documentary titled ‘Lost Worlds’. Filmed on
location in Malaysian Borneo, one of the main aims was to complete a first ascent of a
300m limestone cliff in a remote jungle environment. As part of the main climbing team,
over 3 weeks we successfully achieved out goal and managed to safely take the
presenters and cameramen to the cliff top and back down again. The show was aired on
Discovery channel during Mach 2015. Time management skills along with good team
working and communication were critical to the success of the trip.
Completed a successful ascent of the Mirror Wall in North East Greenland during a 6 week
climbing expedition in 2015. A 1200m cliff in a remote glacial valley presented many
challenges and allowed me to develop skills in planning and logistics, team working, and
making critical decisions under pressure. This was again filmed and due to be aired in
September 2016.

3. Additional Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office; including Word and Excel to create quality reports in a timely
manner.
Competent at drafting accurate Isometrics for pipelines,
Competent at reading Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s) for locating equipment
and instruments within a flow process.
Reliable, trustworthy and hardworking individual who is able to perform well and to the
best of my ability even whilst under pressure.
