AIR PRODUCTS AND CHEMICALS – GLOBAL 1975-2014
A worldwide supplier of industrial gases & equipment, specialty & intermediate chemicals, & environmental & energy systems
Provisioning Lead (2008-2014)
Handled all world-wide spare parts provisioning of Gas and Equipment, Chemicals, and Electronics plants,
providing a 24 hr./ 365-days / year point of contact. Developed spare parts estimates for new projects;
gathered parts information for new project equipment; added parts information to the inventory system;
determined required parts to support equipment using established philosophies, best practices, and
interfacing with Engineering and Line Management. Insured required spare parts were available in a time
frame that meets business need. Managed volume “hard goods” inventory for customer service activities.
Chosen, because of a background in Chemicals and provisioning chemical plants, to lead provisioning of
5 grass roots projects in Mainland China with colleagues working in the Shanghai office.
Provisioned a major ASU plant in Gent (Ghent), Belgium with colleagues in Teasdale, England,
identifying parts that could be transferred from other plants with a $350K savings.
Successfully trained staff in Shanghai to provision effectively and make sparing decisions using known
philosophies and SAP. Spent 3 months in Shanghai training and travelling to plants in Nanjing, Shenyang
and Changsha with local provisioners. The team became self-sufficient, eliminating travel from the US.
Produced $25K / year savings through inventory reduction, vendor negotiation and identifying parts that
could be shared between plants.
Warehouse Manager – Gulf Coast Region (2004-2008)
Managed 11 warehouses, with 12 employees, supporting all Gas and Chemical plants in Texas and
Louisiana, including all warehousing processes – MRP,cycle counting, receiving, zone stores, and inventory
reduction.
Delivered inventory accuracy above 99% by implementing the cycle counting process using the SAP tool.
Generated over $300K in savings annually in the Gulf Coast Region by managing an agreement with a
major worldwide pipe, valve, fitting and mill supplier.
Reduced inventory over a 2-year period by $2.6M generating a savings of $560K in carrying costs. By
identifying hard goods that could be shared between plants.
Generated $175K in annual savings through freight negotiations and consolidation.
Generated savings of $900K annually by identifying warehouse parts that could be repaired instead of
purchased, then developing and implementing procedures with maintenance to carry out a program of
identifying those items in SAP so they would be flagged as repairable in SAP when a reservation was
implemented.
Successfully implemented vendor management inventory (VMI) in all 11 warehouses regionally (with a
major integrated supplier).

suppliers.
Tracked delivery of all purchased project and maintenance hard goods so that project fabrication and
maintenance turnaround schedules were met 100%.
Resolved invoice discrepancies for all hard good purchases and outside vendor contracts,so bills were
paid on time and vendors paid only for services performed and materials delivered.
Maintenance Planner – Pasadena,TX(1990-2000)
Planned and scheduled all maintenance work of 12 mechanics, 4 instrument technicians and all outside
contractors for a large Poly-Vinyl Alcohol plant.
Prioritized work according to production needs, including delivering resources to meet those needs,
working with the operations team leader to determine daily maintenance work needs.
Achieved a 90% schedule compliance rate by implementing a predictive preventive maintenance
program, improving plant reliability by predicting equipment failure before it happened.
Drove productivity through scheduling: tracked man-hours scheduled vs. man-hours work performed,
creating a productivity rate. The result: outsourcing productive assigned labor to other plants.
Interfaced with the Production Team to plan long-term scheduled plant shutdowns, identifying the
manpower load for each craft and needs for outside vendors.
Created all requisitions for materials and outside contractors for the facility, insuring resources would be
onsite when work was scheduled to be performed.
Achieved no lost-time accidents, recordable or instances needed first aid, lowered insurance costs and
created a safe working environment for the employees, by scheduling daily toolbox and monthly meetings
for maintenance team safety awareness and to discuss current concerns for resolution.
Implemented maintenance resource sharing with other plants in the region while managing a $6M
maintenance budget, bringing maintenance costs within budget for 7 years, minimizing the need for
outside contract labor.
