PERSONAL PROFILE:
I am senior systems engineer with extensive experience in the renewables, Data Centre & critical
infrastructure industries and developing technologies. Having worked as the head of design for
principle D&B & ESCO contractors and technical director for an innovating funder, I have
attained a broad depth of knowledge across multiple disciplines, from the engineering, structural
& architectural disciplines through to the complex legal and commercial arrangements
associated with the delivery of ESCO type projects. This coupled with a practical background
and the ability to converse at all levels within any project team gives me the ability to lead
projects. My core strengths are summarised below:
• Ability to understand complex systems / structures from technical, legal and commercial
perspectives
• Experience and understanding of project risks and dealing with the risks associated with
innovation and novel technologies
• Excellent engineering knowledge with particular strengths in resilience
• Ability to develop design concepts on the understanding of client briefs including
understanding & development of the project fundamental commercials from savings to
IRR’s, NPV’s and paybacks
• Design validation skills leading to value engineering
• Resolution of technical issues
• Excellent leadership & communication skills
• Excellent commercial acumen
These strengths & abilities have been recognised during my career and as a result I have been
rapidly promoted to senior management levels within my previous & current employments.

EXPERIENCE:
July 2015 to Jan 2016
Lumicity
Interests: Finance & renewables: Agricultural sector, infrastructure, property
Role: Technical Director
As an equity participant and statutory director, I joined Lumicity in 2015, a start up
company with the objective of investing in renewables and intensive farm
infrastructure & buildings, particularly focusing on the poultry sector. The directors of
the company had a vast experience in project finance, particularly in the power
industry and saw an opportunity to apply the project finance approach into the
poultry industry. Over my brief time at Lumicity I came to understand a new
industry, the complex engineering requirements involved in creating optimal
environments for efficient bird growth and developed a detailed heat model to
determine optimal heating solutions. Unfortunately, due to an inability to attract
funding at IRRs that worked for all parties, the company ceased its operations in
Feb 2016.
2013 – June 2015
Utilyx (a Mitie Company)
Interests: Consultancy: Energy, energy efficiency, energy markets, embedded generation,
renewables
Role: Design Director
As a new, small, team in the Utilyx business we developed new sales propositions
which range from energy surveys, design peer reviews and project management
to the development of concept design and robust business cases for decentralised
energy plants. Within its first year of operation our team delivered a turnover of
£2.6M.
2011 to 2013
Mitie Asset Management
Interests: Energy Centres, Waste to Energy, Biomass, CHP
Role: Design Director
MITIE Asset Management developed bespoke energy assets that offer a secure,
sustainable energy supply with price certainty, guaranteed efficiencies and
reduced carbon emissions. These benefits are based on capturing the long-term
value of decentralised energy generation.
The contracts were typically based on delivering guaranteed performance and
availability over a strategic term, often at no capital outlay to the end user.
Economic advantages are often gained as an energy ‘hub’ for the local
community.
In 2011 I was promoted within MITIE Infrastructure to the position of Design Director
within the Validation Department of MITIE Asset Management. The role was
principally to develop design solutions for projects that offer a significant return on
investment. The key objectives are to identify the appropriate technology or
technologies, evaluate and mitigate the risks including fuel supply, technology
design and commercial risks. The design team consists of ten engineers with a
broad range experience and expertise. The following list highlights the range of
technologies being delivered / designed / assessed.
4. 4 of 7
• Gasification of virgin Biomass and Power Generation utilising Stirling engines
• Gasification of Waste wood and Power Generation utilising Steam Turbines &
district Heating Scheme
• Biomass Boilers – Virgin & Waste Wood
• Incineration – medical waste
• Waste to Energy scheme incorporating Autoclaves, Anaerobic Digestion,
methane fired gas engine
• 7MW Tall Oil fired CHP
• Numerous Energy Centres incorporating Gas Fired CHP, reciprocating engines
and turbines (ranging from 500kW to 7.2MW) and other complimentary
technologies eg Absorption chillers.
