2. Audience - The Effects Model
The effects model is also known as the hyperaemic syringe theory, is when a passive/
powerless audience takes on an effect from a media text this can influence them to follow
something or even go and do something. The power lies with the media text as it is using
the audience to get the message across. The message is `injected` into the audience, and it
worked like a drug as the audience get `drugged` or become and `addict`. this theory has
been proven from the Bobo doll experiment in 1961 by Albert Bandura. The experiment
was taken to prove that children copy violence from media texts. Children were made to
watch a video of an adult violently attacking a clown doll, then the children where escorted
into a room full of toys but where strictly told that they could not play with the toys then
the children got took to another room with a Bobo doll in it, 88% of the children showed
violent behavior towards the doll and a later 8 months later the same test was conducted
but the children did not watch the clip and a only 40% of the children then showed violent
behaviour. In conclusion to the experiment the theory was proven but people argued that
the test was not fair.

4. Audience-
However it is still unclear if that
violent videos effect people, this is
shown as when people do watch
violent videos they do not come
out with violent behavior. So this
idea leads to another theory
called the uses and gratifcation
model.
5. Audience- uses and Gratifications
The uses and gratifications this theory says that it has the opposite
affect to The Effects model. The uses and Gratifications say that the
audience are active and that the audience use the text and they are not
used by the text. The audience gain pleasure from the media text and
also gain emotional pleasure. This theory argues that the audience are
free to reject or accept the text.
In conclusion to this we will be appealing to both types of audinces, the
message that we will be send out will be that `you need to work hard
to achive`. This will be the key message that we are going to portray to
our audince, this will hopefully come across to them when the
interviewees are talking about how they achived what they have.
6. Genre Theory
In our documentary we are going to follow Props character types, this
theory gives each character in the production a role to follow. In our
documentory the footballer that we are interviewing is the hero as he
is guiding our audience how to become like him but he can can also be
classed at the princess as he in a way needs saving. The coach would
then become the hero at this point as he is saving the princess and
helping the footballers improve. We will also be following the Trodovs
narrative structure, equilibrium, disequilibrium and finally new
equilibrium, our equilibrium would be the interviewee talking about
how he wanted to become a footballer as a child or where his first
passion came from for football, then the disequilibrium would be them
explaining the issues and struggles they had came across which would
then follow on with them explaining where they are now.
