3. SPORTS MEDICINE AND TEAM PHYSICIAN
“ The goal of a team physician is
to take care of the “team’s health”
and ensure that the athletes are fit
to compete.” (Testoni, D., Hornik,
C. P., Smith, P. B., Benjamin, D. K., &
McKinney, R. E. (2013).
4. Orthoassociates.com also states
that working well with coaches
and administrators is a must
being Team Physicians to
collectively work and handle
situations during a time of
injury and illness.
Throughout the season the
team will be traveling very
often. During this time, it is very
important to be in the “know” of
things in the particular location
for example the most common
illnesses that could arise
during the travel. By doing, the
team physicians will be more
prepared to bring what is
necessary to prevent any
illnesses to occur.
6. WORKING ENVIRONMENT
“After a player gets hurt,
the team physician must
make a return-to-play
decision both during the
game (on the field) and
during the period of
injury management”
(Testoni, D., Hornik, C. P.,
Smith, P. B., Benjamin, D.
K., & McKinney, R. E.,
2013).
7. REMEDIES
According to the book
“Principle of Manual Sports
Medicine” published by
Wolters Kluwer Health, these
techniques are utilized by
physical therapist and many
more physicians.This
treatment includes massaging
and stretching for the
tightening or cramping of
muscles.
9. OVERALL
Applying my experiences as an athlete helped me find a
career that I will truly love and enjoy. I will be able to
implement the knowledge that I will learn throughout the
years of education to future athletes. Being a Team
Physician I will be highly capable to treat athletes to
prevent injuries and as well as being stronger after
recovery.
10. DIGITAL LITERACY EVALUATION
I feel that Digital Literacy helped me better myself as a student as I
progress on to other classes. I will be able to utilize the tools that was
presented to us throughout the course. Especially, being able to be more
familiar with the cloud storages, which helped significantly during the times
where I have to travel. Another thing that I appreciate about this class are the
lessons regarding proper ways of citation, I know throughout my whole
education and as well as career I will be using these tools quite often and it is
nice to have touch up on this subject. Lastly, the big 6 helped me not skip up
on earlier step processes of research, for this will be the foundation of your
whole work. During this course I was able to evaluate on how I could have
done thing a little differently.
