This document provides guidance on screening employees for COVID-19 symptoms before entering the workplace. It instructs employers to screen all employees, clients, and service providers daily for symptoms and use a temperature scanner to check temperatures. Anyone displaying symptoms or a temperature of 37.5 degrees or higher should not be granted access and be advised to seek medical attention. Employers should also have employees sign a daily declaration form recording any symptoms and temperatures.

1. Screening process
Enable
Enable working from home, if possible, for staff who are required to self-
quarantine but are not displaying symptoms of COVID-19
Treat
Treat personal information about individual workers’ health confidential,
in line with privacy laws
Remind
Remind staff of their leave entitlements if they are sick or required to
self-quarantine.
Instruct
Instruct workers to tell you if they are displaying symptoms of COVID-19,
have been in close contact with a person who has COVID-19 or have been
tested positive for COVID-19

2. Daily Screening for COVID-19 Symptoms
• All employees, clients, service providers must be screened for COVID-19 symptoms before entering
the workplace.
• Screening should be conducted by a person who has been trained to do this screening.
• A laser temperature scanner should be used to take temperatures
• All people entering the workplace must sign a self-declaration form / check list advising of any
symptoms, the temperature reading should be recorded in this self-declaration.
• Any employee or visitor who indicates they have any of the symptoms, and/or a temperature of 37.5
and above, should not be granted access to the workplace.
• Employees should be advised to contact their manager immediately and advise him/her of their
symptoms.
• The company must ensure that the employee is transported home or to a medical facility.
