Employees must be screened for COVID-19 related symptoms which must be report to the appointed COVID-19 manager, their line
manager or supervisor immediately.
• Employees need to report for a COVID-19 symptoms screening at the start of their shift, as well as four hours into their shift.
• Included in this daily screening is a temperature check. Temperatures should be equal to or below 37.5°C
• Should an employee present any symptoms on the COVID-19 symptom screening, the employee should be isolated from all employees,
issued with a FFP1 face mask and sent for COVID-19 testing.
• Should an employee develop symptoms during their work shift, they must report this to the COVID-19 Manager, their line manager or
supervisor
• Employees must report to the COVID-19 manager, their line manager or supervisor if they have been exposed to a person diagnosed
with COVID-19/suspected to have COVID-19, even if the person has not yet been tested.
• If an employee has travelled, this must be reported to the COVID-19 Manager, line Manager or Supervisor
• Employees are encouraged to report it if they notice another worker displaying symptoms
• Workers must stop working if they are displaying symptoms.
• Workers may not report for duty after they have contracted COVID-19 until they provide evidence they are clear of the virus.

SYMPTOM SCREENING

• Myalgia/ body aches
• Loss of smell or taste
• Nausea/ vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Irritability/ confusion
• Weakness or tiredness
• Have you or someone you have been in contact with travelled, outside the country in the last 14 - 21 days?
• Have you been exposed to someone who has COVID-19?

CONFIRMED OR SUSPECTED CASES
• Isolate the sick employee and issue them with a FFP1 mask.
• Inform the national COVID-19 hotline (0800 029 999) and follow the advice of health officials.
• Arrange for the worker to be transported in a manner that does not place other workers or members of the
public at risk for a medical examination or testing.
• Ensure the staff member is tested at a medical facility for COVID-19.
• Inform the Department of Health and the Department of Employment and Labour if an employee tested
positive.
• Clean the area where the person was working and all places they have been. This may mean evacuating those
areas.
• Identify who at the workplace had close contact with the infected person. Refer those workers who may be at
risk for screening and take any other appropriate measure to prevent possible transmission; ensure that the
worker is tested or referred to an identified testing site

IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH A CONFIRMED CASE
• Employees who have come into close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19
must self-isolate for 14 days from the last date of close contact with that person.
• Close contact is defined as approximately one and a half meter.
• If an employee has tested positive, the COVID-19 response team will conduct an investigation to
determine co-workers who may have had close contact with the confirmed positive employee.
• Those employees who have had close contact will need to self-isolate for 14 days from the last date
of close contact with that employee.
• Where necessary the COVID-19 response team will also notify any clients, contractors, vendors,
suppliers or visitors who may have had close contact with the confirmed-positive employee.
• If an employee discovers that they have come into close contact with a confirmed-positive individual
outside of the workplace, they must alert the COVID-19 manager, line manager or supervisor
immediately. They must seek testing and self-isolate until their results have been received.
