• Used at the end of a question statement – applies to all kinds of
questions
Eg: Is she cooking rice?
Who is at the door?
She's doing homework, right?
Has Paul’s mom gone to India?
• Used in the places of missing data
Eg: Write about your island in about ………?……….

Comma &
Apostrophe
• Comma is used to indicate a pause/break
• When speaking, give a little pause where there is a comma
Example: Now, go to page 43 and look at exercise 1.
• Comma is also used to separate a collection of words.
Example: for this recipe we will need chicken, noodles, chilies and cheese.
• Also, its used when two or more different things take place in one
sentence.
Example: He got out of the car, opened the door and went inside.

Apostrophe
• Apostrophe is used to combine two words together as one.
Example: did + not = didn’t Can + not = Can't
Is + not = isn’t Should + not = Shouldn't
• Its also used to show that something belongs to someone
Example: Seema’s laptop
Ali’s bag
Children’s tea party

8. Period
• Used to indicate the end of a sentence.
• Periods should be placed correctly, at the very end of the statement.
Example: I am going to the mosque.
He is sleeping all day.
Harry loves ice-cream.
