The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has released a new 40-minute educational video called "Water We Do- It's Up to Me and You" aimed at teaching students in 2nd through 5th grade about water conservation. The video shows how people use water and helps children understand the importance of conservation practices. It uses puppets and songs to empower children to make responsible choices about water. The department is asking superintendents to provide contact information for the person who should receive free copies of the video and accompanying educational materials to distribute to elementary schools in their county.

Dear Superintendent:
This summer, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife is releasing its latest free
educational video, Water We Do- It’s Up to Me and You. Designed for students in
second through fifth grade, This California-based water conservation video shows the
many ways people use water, and helps girls and boys understand the importance of
water conservation practices at home. The goal is empowering children, to make a
difference, by making responsible choices. The engaging 40 minute DVD uses puppets
and seven professionally produced songs. The script was vetted through a teacher
review group of twelve representing various grades and demographics. It is available to
review and use at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqAer_NBFC8
It is our goal that every elementary school in California receives a free copy of the
video, along with the supporting educational materials. We need your help to identify the
person or persons in your County Office of Schools to whom these packets should be
addressed so they will be distributed properly.
Mailing packet included an alignment to the Next Generation Science Standards, a pre-
post discussion activity, a glossary, and a pre-post multiple choice test. The Department
of Fish and Wildlife will compile returned tests and relay results if requested. This Video
is a great follow-up to our first, widely successful video on water pollution and solutions.
