The Florida Master Naturalist Program (FMNP) was created by the University of Florida to educate people about the plants, animals, and habitats of Florida through affordable courses. The program began over 10 years ago and now offers three core modules covering freshwater wetlands, coastal systems, and upland habitats. The article describes the author's experience taking the coastal systems module at Camp Bayou, which involved lectures, videos, field trips, and a final presentation. Field trips to locations like Cockroach Bay and Emerson Point Preserve allowed participants to directly observe different coastal habitats. The program aims to increase knowledge of Florida's wildlife and environment.
