war equipment in the army force, navy force and air
force was low-graded
– Their attitude on their top-quality war equipment caused
them to underestimate the military strength of the
Japanese which made them relax and stop preparing for
the war

– General Percival lead the British troops. He was not
experience in war. The generals disagree with each other
which made the British leadership very weak
• War equipment
– The British used old and old-fashion airplanes known as
flying coffins
– They used anti-tank guns which were not effective
against the Japanese tanks

• Attitude
– They were determined and resilient to invade Singapore so
that they can redeem their resources again. They also want to
become rich and powerful
• Leadership
– General Tomoyuki Yamashita lead the Japanese troops. He is
experienced in war because he had fought with China before.
This cause their leadership to be strong
• War Equipment
– The used better quality and modern aircraft known as the
Zero Fighters
6. – They used movable tanks so that they can move about in
the jungles
• Strategies and trainings
– The Japanese used intelligence service which is to study
the British’s strategies to plan their defense. The
intelligent agents were placed everywhere on the island.
They even got pictures of the road, railway and military
locations
– Some even disguised themselves as waiters so that they
can observe the British officers
7. – The Japanese troops were well-trained in the
jungles. They cycled through the forest in Malaya
with bicycles
