2. Insulation and Interior Retrofits
Insulation works by slowing the movement of heat from a hot space to one that is cooler.
By using a thermal imaging camera we at Antonio Ciampa LLC. can advise our clients, without wall
Intrusion, where it would be most beneficial to add insulation to establish temperature comfort in
homes and building units.
Although variant by our specific needs assessments, our most used method of insulation is
cellulose insulation. We also like the green friendly asset this product features to our
clients and their homes.
We are Qualified by BPI and have HERS raters in-house to qualify our
clients for NYSERDA Incentives.
3. The Benefits of Insulation
Insulation has one of the fastest return to invest ratio values
within the job scope family of energy retrofits. By preventing
energy from leaving or entering the home you’re valuing the
energy production within the living space.
Less Wasted Energy = Less Cost to Produce Energy
Bonus: Cellulose insulation is one of the greenest products in the world.
4. The difference between
Fiber glass and cellulose
The Comparison in efficiency between 20th century
insulation product – the pink stuff, and Cellulose is as easy
as the eye can see. No visible gaps and/or air bypasses.
Fiberglass Cellulose
• Carcinogenic • Green Product
• Flammable • Fireproof
• Inconsistent R-Value • Constant R-Value
due to Thermal • Insect Repellent
Convection.
Antonio Ciampa LLC. is one of few
contractors in Westchester County that
provide installation with in-house crew
and equipment for Cellulose insulation.

9. What is Solar Power?
The sun generates free energy that can be captured and transformed into thermal energy
or electrical current energy.
With a “collector” or panel to collect the sun’s energy and an “inverter” to transform that
power into a frequency that is used in our day to day we can replace the need for coal
generating electric power plants and fossil fuel consumption for heating.

through solar energy!

14. Why Go Solar?
Because you will become your own electrical power plant.
By going solar and installing a “grid-tied system” you’ll
become your utility company’s best supplier.
You will also:
• Help the environment.
• Reduce your consumption of fossil fuels.
• Lower your monthly bills.
• Increase your property value.
• Save money in the long term by “buying up
front” your electricity for the next 25+ years.
Antonio Ciampa LLC. 14
15. Programs Available:
Federal and State Governments want you to take advantage of their
incentives for going solar. NYSERDA is offering $1.75 per DC-Watt
installed same as cash incentive, The State of NY is offering a 20% Tax
abatement incentive, and the Federal Government is offering a 30%
federal tax incentive for you to switch over to solar energy.
Why Should I Go Solar Now?
Because most incentives that make the cost of going Solar affordable
to consumers expire at the end of the calendar year.
The trend as Solar Energy becomes more mainstream, is for the
incentives to decrease as time passes.
Ex.: The Federal 30% of total cost incentive used to be given as a
same as cash Grant. As of 2009 it became a Tax Incentive.

16. Is Solar for Me?
These are locations with Solar installations in the New York City Area and the 5 boroughs:
As the largest urban center in the United States, New
York City requires a significant amount of electricity to
power its economy and infrastructure. While growth in
New York City’s annual electricity consumption has
increased steadily since 2000, annual summer peak
electricity demand has grown at a rate nearly seven
times as fast, and with greater variability (NYISO 2010).
New York City is required to generate 80% of its electric
power within city limits to meet grid reliability
standards, and relies almost exclusively on fossil fuel
power plants to do so. However, recent studies have
shown that local renewable energy sources could
supply over a third of the city’s energy within the next 20
years (Rickerson 2006), much of it from solar energy.
As a peak coincident energy source, solar PV
production offsets some of the City’s most expensive
energy, and plays an increasingly important role in New
York’s energy mix. In 2007, Mayor Bloomberg
announced PlaNYC 2030, an ambitious plan to reduce
New York City’s carbon footprint 30% by 2030. Growing
New York City’s solar market to realize its vast solar
potential will help achieve this goal while providing
benefits to the electrical distribution system, the
economy, and the local environment,

This is a sample breakdown of a small residential installation we have just
finished requesting federal and state incentives for:
60% of this system’s cost was subsidized by Federal and State Initiatives.
Antonio Ciampa LLC. 17
18. What does pay back period mean?
Pay back period is the term used by renewable energy companies when
explaining that “the system pays for itself”.
At Antonio Ciampa LLC. we calculate payback period by evaluating the
compounded savings per month after installation on increasing costs of
fossil fuel rates and the total dollar value wiped out from your utility bill.
The goal of installing Solar should be
-Reducing your total monthly dollar value for your utility.
Providing you with a system that satisfies your consumption and space.
- Giving you Return on your investment.
Antonio Ciampa LLC. 18
19. Average cost of a Solar System?
Average Cost of System per NY State County:
The cost of a Solar System is quoted in
Dollars per Watt-DC. Different
counties have different costs. The best
way to examine this question is to ask
the source, NYSERDA, the State
representative for funding allocation
of renewable energy programs has
data available to show for every solar
installation that happens within their
program.
It is important to bear in mind that
installation of a Solar System is similar
to adding an electrical power plant to
your home.
A Certified Installer with knowledge
and experience has to be involved in
the process.
Antonio Ciampa LLC. 19
20. What is Net Metering?
Chances are unless you live in a very remote
area, you will want to continue tied to the electrical
grid system of your utility company instead of having
generators as your back up power or supply storage
system.
The utility company will provide you with a Meter that
measures what you spend and what you generate.
At the end of the year you will receive a statement
that will show how much electricity you used vs.
produced.
This is why you become your own power plant.
Question: But I thought I was doing this to get rid
of my utility company?
If you want to go completely off grid you can use
batteries for solar electrical storage. Battery systems
are an added expense and require maintenance.
Hence a grid-tied system is more cost effective.

26. What is the process for Installation?
• Installation of a solar system can be a process that takes on
average 5 days. Most of the work happens before and after
installation. You will build a relationship with your installer and
contractor as they will need to monitor the system for you during the
1st year after installation.
• Most of the work involved with Solar Systems involve testing before
and after installation, and permits before installation.
• Designing a System that is compatible with your roof area and
consumption.
• Choosing the right system components.
Professionals involved:
• An engineer.
• A NYSERDA Approved installer.
• A Master Electrician.
