3. MASTHEAD
The masthead, ‘’INKSPIRED’’ is comprised of two words. It is written in small caps, first letter ‘I’ is
bigger and just like that the letter ‘S’ is also bigger than the other letters. They’ve made up a word
from the two words ink and inspired. The name of the magazine has an implicit meaning, maybe
they're trying to say that people who get tattoos are inspired by ink. There is no space between the
two words because inkspired is a single word. It has been written in a bold yet a simple font so it
stands out on the background. The masthead is covering the hair of the model. The colour beige
has been used as it is a neutral colour and gives out a calm, relaxing vibe. Beige symbolizes work
and that is what they’re trying to show over here because it is a tattoo magazine.
Another interesting thing is that the masthead is written in the same way on every inkspired
magazine to bring uniformity in all of the issues. The type of font which is used is known as a san
serif font and it gives a very modern look to the masthead and to the magazine. The masthead is
written in a sentence form so that it looks more presentable. The issue date is written right below
the masthead in a very simple font and it is smaller in size.
4. MAIN IMAGE
The model is wearing a white tank top so that
the tattoo becomes more visible on her skin
colour. The image objectifies the women’s body
because she’s showing it off in a sensual way in
order to attract the readers. This is a mid shot
and a very low-key lighting is used. It looks like
she’s making a lot of effort in order to pose this
way. They’re trying to show that she has zoned
out because her eyes are not visible.
He messy brown hair cover her forehead and
eyes. She has a soft, glowy makeup which makes
her skin colour stand out on the greyish black
background. She has her nose pierced which
shows that she’s bold. She’s wearing a lip gloss
and her mouth is open in a very sensual way. She
has a snake wrapped around her neck which
shows that she’s confident and that it takes a lot
of courage to get a tattoo.
