The Library of Alternate Guitar Tunings is a digital library that contains interpretations of songs played in alternate guitar tunings, including transcriptions in PDF format paired with audio recordings in .mp4 or .wmv format. The collection is intended for musicians, students, and others interested in learning about alternate guitar tunings. It allows browsing and searching by song, tuning, and other criteria, and provides recommended browsers and software for viewing the various file formats.

playing songs on an acoustic guitar in an
alternate tuning, as opposed to using the
standard guitar tuning (EADGBE).

songs played in alternate guitar tunings.
The contributors to the collection are not
the songwriters themselves; rather, they are
individuals who have taken the time to
come up with their own interpretations of
how the songs are played.
Contributions include transcriptions of
selected songs in a text format (PDF),
paired with sound recordings that feature a
guitar sampling of each of the selected
songs (.mp4 or .wmv formats)

The default page provides a list of all the songs in the
collection ordered alphabetically by title, followed
by guitar tuning, songwriter, item medium, and a
thumbnail of the item.
By clicking on the header, such as Title, the list may
be sorted in either ascending or descending order.
An additional sort option is listed above the headers
under the Sort By… field, which allows a user to sort
by title, type, item medium, songwriter, song, and
tuning.
The left panel allows a user to narrow his/her search
by clicking on the following tabs: Songwriter, Item
Medium, Tuning, Song, and Title.

A search box is located at the top of the
screen. Users may type in keywords and click
the Search button to yield search results.
Advanced searching is also an option for
refining a search. Users may click on the
Advanced Search link and select options from
the drop-down menus in each field.
Additional search fields may be added by
clicking on the Add Another Field link to narrow
a search even further. Clicking on the Search
button will yield results, while clicking on the
Clear All button will clear a search.

Windows Media Player) or .mp4 files (viewed
by programs that allow MPEG-4 formats).

collection represent the author/interpreter’s
own work and his/her own interpretation of
the song. No claim is made that the
interpretation represents the way the
recording artist/songwriter actually plays the
song. The items in the collection may only be
used for private study, scholarship, or

collection is used in accordance with ‘Fair
Use.’
