THROWING EVENTS
There are four different throwing events
which athletes require to demonstrate
power, strength and accuracy…There are:
the hammer, the discus, the javelin and the
shot put.
WHAT IS A JAVELIN?
The javelin is an athletic event and consist of throw
a kind of stick made by metal or fiberglass as far as
possible across the field. This event combines
speed with great strength.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A
JAVELIN
It has a metal peak. Javelin length is 260-270
cm in men's category and 220-230 cm in
women‘s category and it has a maximum weight
of 800 g for males and 600 g for females.
RULES OF THE THROW
The javelin is thrown by an arm extended
backwards, and it's thrown over the shoulder or
upper part of the arm. If the athlete turns
their back to the throwing line during the throw
or crosses the line during or after the
throw, the throw is classified as a fail.
