2. DEFINITION
 Atmosphere is the large blanket of air that surround the
earth.

4. TROPOSPHERE
 It extend to a height of about 16km.
 It contains almost water vapour and dust particles.
 Most weather phenomena takes place in this layer.

5. STRATOSPHERE
 It extend to a height of about 50km above the earth`s
surface.
 It contains the ozone layer that absorbs solar ultraviolet
radiation.
 It is very dry with little water vapour.
 It is suitable for flying air crafts (passengers jet).

6. MESOSPHERE
 It extends at a height of about 90km above the earth`s
surface.
 There are no clouds found in this layer.
 Meteors burn up in this layer while entering the earth`s
atmosphere.
 It is the coldest layer
 It can be reached by sounding rockets.

7. THERMOSPHERE
 It is uniform from about 100km.
 Radio waves are transmitted from the earth are reflected by
this layer.
 Aurora and satellites occur in this layer.
