Manpower Employment Outlook Survey – Q1 2015 
MEOS Q1 2015 Summary 
 The national net employment outlook is up one point to +7%, from +6% last 
quarter – an increase in optimism after a surprise dip last quarter. 
 The outlook for the country’s big businesses rose to +21%, its highest level 
since 2005, when Manpower began recording outlook by organisation size. 
 Finance and business services fell to its weakest level since 2012. The 
sector dropped to +9, the first time in two years optimism has dipped below 
double figures. 
 The Utilities sector surged four points to+16% and the top of the sector table 
– its highest level in more than two years. 
 Construction rose nine points to +9, making Q1, 2015 its most upbeat for 30 
quarters.

 Large businesses up 4 points, to highest level in a decade. 
 Micro businesses have strongest Outlook since mid 2008.

Public/private sector breakdown* 
 Private sector hiring intentions fell marginally to +5. 
 Public sector intentions returned to positive territory (+2), a rise of 7 points. 
 The Outlook for not-for-profits is unchanged on +2.
