3. Corneal odema
โข Normal water content of cornea is 78 %
โข it is maintained by balance between the factors which draw water into
cornea ( IOP and Swelling pressure = 60mmhg) and draw water out of cornea
(active pump of endothelieum).
โข distrubance in any of these lead to corneal odema
โข more than 78% water conent lead to increased CCT and decreased
transparency
5. Clinical Features
โข Initial stage - Stromal Haze with reduced vision
โข Long standing - marked loss of vision , pain , photophobia ,epithelial
vesicle with bullae formation
6. Treatment
โข Treat the underlying cause ( raised IOP)
โข Hypertonic agents for Rx dehydration of cornea
โข Hot forced air from hair dryer
โข soft contact lens
โข Penetrating keratoplasty
8. Causes of colour blindness
โข Congenital -
1) Dyschromatopsia-
a)Anamalous trichromactic- Protanomalous,Deuteranomalous,Tritanomalous
b)Dichromactic- Protanopia,Deuteranopia,Tritanopia
c)Blue cone monochromatism
2) Achromatopsia- Rod Monochromatism
โข Acquired -
1) Blue Yellow Impairment -CSR,Macular oedema
2) Red Green deficiency-Optic neuritis,Lebers optic atrophy,
3) Acquired blue color defect - Old age due to sclerosis of lens
