2. Definition of Computer
A computer is a device that can be instructed to
carry out arbitrary sequences
of arithmetic or logical operations
automatically. The ability of computers to
follow generalized sets of operations,
called programs, enables them to perform an
extremely wide range of tasks.

 Computer technology controls satellites and traffic
signals.
 MP3 players and cellular phones rely on it.
 When people drive, they depend on a computer to keep
their vehicle's engine running properly.
 Governments use it to streamline services and enhance
defense.
 Even basic television broadcasting now depends on
complex computer management to keep things moving.
 Computer technology permeates the fabric of
contemporary life at home, at work and even at play.

In computing, an input device is (a piece
of computer hardware equipment) used to
provide data and control signals to
an information processing system such as
a computer or information appliance.
