4. History
 1982, developed for angiography and
subsequently applied to maxillofacial imaging.

5. Cone Beam
A divergent or cone-shaped source of ionizing
radiation and 2D area detector fixed on a rotating
gantry to acquire multiple sequential projection images
in one complete scan around ROI.

6. Principle
 2D digital array combined with a 3D x-ray beam
with circular collimation so that is in the shape of
a cone hence called the name “cone beam”.
