2. Defination
 An electric dipole, or simply a dipole, is
the name given to two point charges of
equal magnitude and opposite sign,
separated by a distance that is small
compared to the distance to the point P at
which we want to know the electric and
potential fields.
 Electric dipole term use for DIELECTRIC
METRIALS when it is placed in FIELD

3. Concepts
 Electric dipole have electric field and potential field which we find
mathematically…..
 POTENTIAL FIELD is easier to find first than ELECTRIC
FIELD…..
 An electric field surrounds an electric charge, and exerts force on
other charges in the field, attracting or repelling them. Electric field
is sometimes abbreviated as E-field.

then both point have same distance….so we call
parallel distance…..

 Dipole moment can be write as p and equal to the Qd

12. Important Informatio
 The dipole moment and potential field remain same
for every changing in Q and d…because it remain same
and CONSTANT.
 potential field is now proportional to the inverse
square of the distance, and the electric field intensity
is proportional to the inverse cube of the distance
from the dipole
