Seràgnoli”, S.Orsola-Malpighi Hospital, Bologna
the L. Seràgnoli department of Paediatric Oncology and Haematology, S.Orsola-

90 years in the industry
A story of excellence
1923 /
1970
COESIA Group was formed around G.D, a company established in 1923, which developed a successful business manufacturing
motor bikes, winning many races and making a name for itself. The company was than purchased by Enzo Seràgnoli at the end of
1930s.
In the 40’ s, Enzo and Ariosto Seràgnoli, shift the business focus and launched their first automatic wrapping machine. In a short
period of time G.D developed a wide range of innovative wrapping machines for candies, chocolates and soaps.
In the 50’ s G.D became the world leader in the highly automated industrial machinery industry.
In the early 60’ s, G.D enters the tobacco sector, introducing the revolutionary wrapping machine model 4350/Pack-B, and
becomes a world leader.

In 1979, the Group was reorganized under a newly established holding company, CSII, controlling G.D, and starting a
diversification strategy by acquiring other industrial companies (1980: CIMA, 1986: ACMA, 1995: GDM, 1996: VOLPAK, 2006:
HAPA and LAETUS, 2008: SIRIUS MACHINERY), as well as pursuing real estate and financial investments.
At the beginning of 2005 the Group was renamed COESIA to represent the cohesion behind the Group. Since 2002, COESIA
Group has been fully owned by Isabella Seràgnoli.
During 2011 the Group accelerated its diversification strategy by acquiring FlexLink, the leader in high end production logistics ,
while consolidating its position in Tobacco through the acquisition of Sasib.
In 2012, Coesia acquired Oystar North America, renamed R.A Jones, a leading American packaging machinery company.
In 2013 Coesia acquired IPI, specialized in aseptic carton packaging for liquid products.
