3. Green Composites
● Green composites are next generation sustainable composites materials. Generally it is made of bio-
polymatrics or polymers reinforced with bio fibers. The main object of this composites is to create a
strong, light-weight and lower density composites. It must have natural resources and it will have green
synthetics.
● The main advantage of green composites is recyclable & biodegradable.

● Polymer Matrix composites consists of three matrix which are-
- Thermoset
- Thermoplastic
- Elastomer

5. Polymer Matrix Composites
Polymer matrix is a material which is made of a polymer matrix mixed with a fibrous reinforcing dispersed
phase.

6. Why polymer & Why composites ?
Polymers are very unique materials because of light weight,flixible, tough, cheap, easy to process, insulating
and many more advantages. It has some disadvantage as well ; like low maximum working temperature,
Some raw materials and manufacturing process is expensive etc
Properties of polymers:

3. Flammable

There are lots of benefits of filler in composites; for instance-
-Mechanical properties are always improve. For example Hardness & strength will be improved .

-Electrical properties will be improved
-Thermal properties will be developed
- Easy to processing and cost will be lower.

13. Types of Polymers Matrix
The selection of polymer matrix depends on requirement and its
applications.
Thermoplastic polymers: Thermoplastics will melt when it’s heated
or cooled. Example: polyethylene,polypropylene etc
Thermoset polymers: Thermoset polymers do not soften but
decompose on heating. It cannot be reshaped. Example: silicone,
epoxy , phenolic etc
Elastomers: Elastomers have limited amount of cross linking. It can
be bend, stretch and it can be back their original shape. Example:
polybutadiene, Natural rubber etc

plastic industry.Wood plastic composites is a green composite
which is achieve durability without toxic elements. Wood plastic
composites contains thermosets or thermoplastic and plant fibers.
Wood plastic composites contains plant fibers( wood or non wood)
and it’s mainly produced via plant fiber with polymer.
