4. 1. Pupils must know the terms
• i. Evaporation is the process when a liquid changes
into gas.
Takes place at the surface of a liquid at room
temperature.
• ii. Condensation is the process when water vapour is
cooled and it changes to water which is the liquid state.
5. 2. A hands on activity.
Condensation
Placing ice cubes in drinking glass to make it about ¾ full.
6. Watch the glass - condensation will appear on the sides. This is because the frozen
water is changing state and absorbing latent heat to do so.
7.
8. Aiding Evaporation
Tint a jug of water with a few drops of food colouring, and
pour equal amounts of water into three saucers.
9. Mark the water level in each saucer. Put one saucer outside in sunlight, one in
shade, and one inside.
10. Check the saucers twice a day. As the water evaporates, mark the new levels. See
which evaporate most quickly, and make a note of how long it takes to empty each
saucer.
11. • 3. Memorize the processes
EVAPORATION
CONDENSATION
Liquid Gas

13. • If pupils are confused in the usage of the word
and definition of Evaporation and
Condensation, they are advised to follow this
simple method:-
In order to remember better.
