To Whom It May Concern,
RE: Luiz Fernando Pereira Bispo –Arc@UNSW’s The Volunteer Army
I am writing in reference to Luiz Bispo’s participation in The Volunteer Army, a
Volunteering and Professional Development Program run by Arc at the
University of New South Wales. The Volunteer Army engages students in a diverse range
of volunteering opportunities, and provides an excellent opportunity to develop valuable
personal and professional skills and experiences.
Luiz has been an incredibly dedicated, passionate, and active contributor to
The Volunteer Army throughout 2014. During this year, he has contributed over two
hundred and fifty hours of volunteer service to the University and the local community.
Luiz has exceeded all expectations. He has demonstrated significant commitment,
initiative and leadership throughout his involvement, and has acted as a mentor for other
volunteers.
Luiz’s involvement has included (but were not limited to) the following opportunities:
19
th
Biennale of Sydney Festival;
Children’s Medical Research Institute’s Jeans for Genes Day Fundraiser;
Conservation Volunteers Australia’s Sydney Projects;
First Hand Solutions’ First Hand Indigenous Markets;
Heart Foundation’s Big Heart Doorknock Appeal;
Inner West Neighbourhood Aid’s Garden Aid Program;
Mother’s Day Classic Event;
Motor Neurone Disease NSW’s Cornflower Blue Fundraiser;
Oasis Youth Support Network’s Monday Lunch Program;
Oxfam Australia’s GROW Campaigh;
RSPCA Australia’s Million Paws Walk Event & Happy Tails Day Fundraiser;
Salvation Army’s Doorknock Appeal;
Starlight Foundation’s Starlight Day Fundraiser;
Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Gold Telethon;
Ted Noffs Foundation’s Opportunity Shops;
Volunteer Army Ambassador; and
World Vision’s Campaign Against Child Labour;
2. Luiz was also involved in the Conservation Volunteers Australia Trip to Montague Island.
Participants were selected through a rigorous application process, and were required to
organise and undertake regular fundraising projects in preparation for the trip.
During this time, Luiz has been recognised for his contributions with the following awards:
Volunteer Army’s Outstanding Volunteer Award; and
19
th
Biennale of Sydney’s Volunteer of the Exhibition Award.
Luiz’s contributions to the program have been greatly valuable. The Volunteer Army
maintains its position as a leading Volunteering and Professional Development Program
and Luiz has been a fantastic asset and ambassador this year.
I have no hesitation in recommending Luiz for a career in the community and not-for-profit
sectors, and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
