Buenos Noches Fund
1. Buenos Noches Fund
Dr. David B Steiner started the fund during the time he was President of the Lima
Rotary Club 2006 -2007. Dr. Steiner provided a very substantial contribution.
The fund is named for Lima Rotarian and Past District Governor Harold “Jack”
Goodnight. Jack mentored many members in how to develop relationships with
international clubs particularly in Central America. The Fund has specific provisions that
the funds be used for International Service at the discretion of the International
Service Chair for Lima Rotary. The Chair may or may not consult with others in the
performance of his duties for use of this Buenos Noches Fund. This responsibility is
not taken lightly. Projects chosen by the International Service Committee and Chair are
not in conflict with Lima Rotary Objectives and may or may not be used for Lima
Rotary Objectives. Control rests with the committee chair. Contributions may be made
by any club member.

3. Buenos Noches Fund has been active with Doing Good in the World.
The operations of the fund have involved the following activities since inception:
1. Has provided the opportunity for The Lima Rotary Club to have an opportunity to choose
a trustworthy and sustainable international project each year.
2. The fund has sought out partners to multiply the effect of the dollars invested.. These
activities have involved informal partnerships with other clubs as well as MESA. Many
times the initial project discovery has been passed on to another club and or MESA for
completion.

village of Las Navarrete's.
2. An experiment with Pacemakers collected from the deceased to maintain the lives of children in heart operations in
situations of last resort for the indigent. This project was terminated for a lack of cooperation from the industry
players.
5. 2. Facilitated the development of a Dental School in San Pedro Sula Honduras. The first year
enrollment was 800 students. BNF facilitated a shipment of dental chairs and tools.
6. The BNF has been assisted by help from others in getting out equipment and supplies. Ram Pai and Bob
Ruehl have been consistent in their support for the Fund.
Findlay University also has assisted with facilitating shipment which the BNF has made. Students have
participated with inventory and loading of medical equipment.
7. The BNF provided the opportunity to give bicycles to children in San Salvador by providing the
shipment costs of 3000 bicycles from a district 6600 gathering. Partnered with Maquilishuat Rotario
in El Salvador.
8. Partnered with Club Rotario Valle de Sula in San Pedro Sula to Rehab the Abrigo Clinic for Family Rest. Prior
to the Rehab of the clinic pregnant mothers were obliged to lay on the lawn outside the Maria Revis Hospital
until their time came due.
9. During the time when schools across Ohio were replacing their school furniture. MESA and the BNF
were active in placing the used desks and chairs in schools where the assistance made a significant
change. St Vincents Department [=state]in El Salvador had 7 schools which our partner Maquilishuat
