I have proposed your name as a member of the selection jury for the
2012Fred L. Soper Award for Excellence in Health Literature, a joint program between
the Pan American Health Orgarrizat:on (PAHO) and Pan American Health and
Education Foundation (PAHEF).
As a recognized leader who is able to read nominations in both Spanish and
English, I hope you decide to serve on the award jury. The award is presented at the
PAHO Directing Council meeting in Washington DC where he/she has the opportunity
to interact with ministers of health of the hemisphere, their delegations, and invited
guests of PAHO. The awardee receives a generous monetary grant, a certificate of merit
and a paid trip to Washington DC.
Your appointment to this committee will be for a three-year period of service
(2012-2015), after which you will be eligible for reappointment for a three-year period.
|ury members generally meet by e-mail and teleconference, if needed. Each member
reviews the list of nominees, specifies whether or not one or more candidates are
suitable for the award, and ranks the list of candidates in order of preference. The jury's
final recommendation is made to the foundation s Board of Trustees for approval.
