The April issue of Indignant magazine focuses on new music talents, with a cover story interview of 19-year old singer Ariella Ada who has found success after uploading her first video to YouTube a year ago and is now signed to a major record label, where she discusses her musical inspirations including Ellie Goulding and hopes to continue growing her career internationally in the coming year. The issue also features interviews with up-and-coming artists Jake DeRand and actress/pianist Josie Mills.

2. ARIELLA ADAā UKās
under 21 one to watch!
Article By Lucy Scott
A iella
r Ada or āAzā as sheās known professionally, sits opposite me at an inti-
mate table in the Rosetta Hotel in Bristol. Her pistachio-shaped green-blue eyes
seem to smile as she openly tells me of her Hebrew heritage, and her secret ob-
session with Scrabbleā¦this not technically part of the interview, but wonderful
to learn anyway. Sheās animated as she reminisces the first video she uploaded
to YouTube, and how a year later she never expected to be signed to a mass rec-
ord label, be voted āThe UKās under 21 one to watchā or to have 2012ās fastest
growing single with āStepping stones and a yellow roseā. When I begin to ask her
questions, she sits forward and gives me her complete attention, a stern expres-
sion of concentration that says sheās giving me nothing short of the real Ariella .
So, Ariella. Youāre nineteen! How does it feel to be an upcoming solo
artists signed to a mega record label while most of your friends are just
finishing up their AāLevels?
Itās pretty crazy, a year ago I was sat in our sixth form common room eating
instant noodles, now Iām sat in Bristol's finest hotel being interviewed about
my success! Iām still reeling in disbelief at how much my life has changed. I
feel incredibly humbled, and incredibly blessed to be where I am now.
Who are you main inspirations?
I think musically it would have to be Ellie Goulding,
sheās so incredibly original, and down to earth, her
music is so different, and yet I think every teenager
in the world can relate to her. As well as musical in-
spirations from Indie bands such as The Smiths, and
Mumford and Sons, my friends and family play a big
part in where I am, theyāre encouragement and loy-
alty overwhelms me sometimes.
3. Where do you see yourself in
another year?
Professionally, I hope to make
an impact in Ireland, and maybe
even The States. Iād love my mu-
sic to be able to branch out of
the UK. Non-professionally
speaking though, Iād love to be
sat under a tree with all of my
friends and my guitar, Iām easily
pleased!
