The achievements of our Award finalists are
exceptional and I am extremely grateful to everyone
who supported them throughout their placements.
Each of our undergraduate programmes now offers the chance
to spend a year in industry. As all of our Award finalists can
attest, this 12-month experience is a unique opportunity to
hone invaluable skills, and gain industry knowledge as well as
experience of the world beyond graduation.
I am delighted that you have joined us this evening to celebrate
our students’ many achievements, and hope that you enjoy

project whilst with GE Druck.
Responsible for implementing
a new product line at
the company’s plant in
Shanghai, he demonstrated
outstanding technical
engineering, management and
communication capabilities.
As well as procuring essential
equipment, he organised and
led their implementation, drove
the sample qualification then
successfully enhanced the
plant’s productivity and output
by creating efficiencies across
the new manufacturing process.
Having immersed himself
in the project, GE took the
unprecedented step of including
Ryan in the team that travelled
to China to provide on-site
training for the Shanghai
engineers.
Ryan has accepted a graduate
role with the company.

9. Dominic Hensman
BA Industrial Design and Technology
Dominic joined Clayesmore as a
Design and Technology Teaching
Assistant, and immediately
immersed himself in the life of
the school.
As well as a full timetable
supporting pupils across years
9 to 13, he developed a new Key
Stage Three scheme of work
that imaginatively introduced
13-year-old students to
sustainability.
His after-school clubs – three
evenings a week – were very
popular. One group was tasked
with the design and realisation
of a large commissioned
sculpture based on the school
emblem – due to be installed
this summer.
