ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We take this opportunity to express our gratitude and deep regards to our guide and our
teacher Professor Anita Devi V for her guidance, ideas, monitoring and encouragement
throughout the project.
WE also express a deep sense of respect and gratitude to our parents and brothers for
their cordial support, valuable information and guidance, without which this project would
not be possible. We are also great full to all our friends who helped us in the analysis by
giving their time in answering the questionnaires. Each of the group members would also
like to thank their cooperative room mates who suggested numerous ideas.
We are grateful for to each person’s cooperation during the period of our project. Lastly,
we thank the almighty god.
ABSTRACT
In this project we have tried to analyze the importance teenage boys and girls give to
their appearances. We have asked questionnaires to a lot of our friends both girls and
boys. The importance they give in dressing, the cautiousness they have when they are in
company of others, situation, etc. are some of the topics we have covered in this project.
Analyzing with the help of the response we got for the questions and also observing people
for over a period of 1 month.
INTRODUCTION
The topic is different from the regular topics and involves creativity. Choosing this topic
was easy but to work on the framework and further on the project had its own difficulties.
With this analysis we got time out to help ourselves to observe people. Ask wide range of
friends various questions. A chance to improve our language in the due course of the
project.A chance to improve analyzing skills.A experience to work with people from
different attitude which in turn has helped us to improve our quality of working in a group.
The value of the project is to help us analyze and observe the various sections of
teenagers and their mind on appearance. ‘APPEARANCE’ is the visible aspect of a person,
which includes the dressing, use of cosmetics, facial expression, and body language. Some
people we see are always bothered about their hair, some have messy hair always, some
have neatly pressed clothes some are least bothered about their crippled T-shirt, some
visit the parlor regularly, some wait for their mothers to yell at them, some don’t mind who
they are with they, some get a better look immediately when it talks to others, and the
people can be illustrated in many ways.
We have tried to get a broad two category of people who ARE cautious and people who
ARE NOT. We also had to include an extra topic ‘cautiousness depending on situation’, a
topic which we had over looked but our faculty in charge Mrs. Anita Devi pointed out. We
have written a very brief report about our observation and analysis on response.
DESCRIPTION
APPEARANCE as the word crosses our minds we just think of the best way to dress up and
walk out with style. But it’s not the idea which everyone share. Trying to analyze ever
person we could as to what he really wants from the way he dresses up, does he want
people to notice him, does he want to remain a silent part of the society, does he really
care about people’s opinions about his appearance or he considers his own opinion a major.
The topic is vast and the sub categories are a long list. Trying to categorize boys and girls
we planned only two and broad categories. A person’s attitude is very much projected by
the way he dresses. A lot can be said by his appearance. This is a key factor which made us
choose this topic. We could understand a person’s attitude better through the course and
at the end of the analysis and observation of the project.
We started the project on 1st
of March by preparing the questionnaires, each person
prepared 10, and the best 10 were selected and posted it on
http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fforms%2Fd%2F1

We spread the web link through Facebook to all our friends. We planned for response of
about 200people. Meanwhile waiting for the responses we googled through some similar
surveys and study done by other people, got a lot of ideas and excluding the questionnaires
each group member was to analyze his roommates on the basis of our topic.
We came up with a very few but good observations. Like hoe cautiousness varies with
occasions, situations, even weather and the people present around. Noted down the
observations which later included in the conclusion report. The responses were available
from about 150 of our friends and we studied each person’s response and categorized
him/her in the category ‘CAUTIOUS’ and ‘NOT CAUTIOUS’. Then we included the
roommates we had observed it any of the two categories where we felt they belonged.
Then pie graphs for response of each question were made a separate pie graph for boys
and another for girls. This helped us categorize according to our topic.
We then include an extra topic which we had overlooked, trying to keep the study a very
plane one we missed how cautiousness changes with situation, occasion, etc. a short report
also prepared on that aspect.

CONCLUSION
‘ANALYSIS ON HOW CAUTIOUS PEOPLE ARE ABOUTTHEIR
APPEARANCES’
The study we carried out for a span of about one month has given us straight answers that
majority people are cautious about their appearances, but there also a comparatively
lesser majority stating that at situations they get cautious. The result was expected very
much of cautious girl, but boys too are not behind.
Lot of people mention that they do start worrying about their appearance when someone
gives them a look. But in some it depends on the person who is looking at them. A lot of
boys are not worried about their appearance throughout the day, girls on the other hand
have answered that they do think of their appearance even when away from the mirror.
Majority of the girls want to be head turners or center of attraction when in a group, they
just make sure to dress up in such a way that every friend of theirs should notice them.
Not a major portion of boys prefer doing that but there is a majority in boys too who
prefer being noticed in a group.
Mirror is the best friend Charlie Chaplin said. A lot of girls have taken it too seriously;
they do not miss an opportunity to look into the mirror. Boys on the other hand have
majority both from, who treat mirror as their best friend looking at them every
opportunity they get and also who look at the mirror 3-5 times a day, which sounds an odd
number but a lot of us reading and writing this report have the same routine. But a
surprising response for time to suit themselves, majority of boys are more than majority
of girls in taking ’15 minutes to dress up for a day’. So boys do make sure that they look
good when they leave the dressing table and majority of girls take lesser time to do the
same. That is because majority of boys consider the clothing as the important part of
their appearance but girls on the other hand have an opinion stating that facial looks and
expressions are also equally important. About 58% of boys whom we got responses from
had to say that they prefer stylish and attractive dressing over simple clothing. And 50%
of girls said the same the 8% difference makes a difference. But given an option between
comfort and attractive clothing both boys and girls prefer comfort clothing. Or they tend
to choose comfortable clothes which are also attractive.
The amount of girls frequent visiting the saloons are more than the number of boys doing
the same. Because as already mentioned girls consider other aspects other than just good
clothing as part of good appearance. And then we could see that over 20% girls completely
agree with 50% prefer cosmetics as a genuine need. But on the other hand only 16% of
boys completely agree that cosmetics are necessary.
Hence coming to a conclusion that boys are more cautious about their appearance when it
comes to dressing up for any occasion but girls are not behind they are cautious in their
own way about their appearance.
REPORT ON CAUTIOSNESS OF PEOPLE DEPENDING ON
SITUATIONS.
Is my hairstyle fine? Does my shirt look ok? My deodorant fragrance hope hasn’t
faded! Are some of the things running in a boy’s mind when he is talking to a girl. Do I look
fat? Is my hair alright? Are some of the things running in a girl’s mind when having a
conversation with a boy.
A lot of people, who dress up simple and walk out of their room casually, tend to
suddenly become cautious about their appearances when they meet or talk to or face
someone. In some people this is restricted to when they meet someone of opposite sex,
but in some it happens with the type of people they meet.
A very less light can be thrown on the cautiousness of people for photography.
When a camera is pointed to people some start worrying about their oily face, crippled T-
shirt, messy hair, pose they give, some refuse to be a part of the pic. But on the other
hand some just give a wide hilarious smile and pose ‘weirdo’ to the camera. The famous line
of trolling on Facebook goes ‘When girls pose for pic the gravity tends to suddenly
increase’ and ‘when boys pose for a pic they become tougher than usual’.
The small study that we carried on in a span of about 3 days, we can conclude with a
small observation that there are people whose cautiousness varies depending on the people
they are with or the situation they are in.

  • 15. CONCLUSION ‘ANALYSIS ON HOW CAUTIOUS PEOPLE ARE ABOUTTHEIR APPEARANCES’ The study we carried out for a span of about one month has given us straight answers that majority people are cautious about their appearances, but there also a comparatively lesser majority stating that at situations they get cautious. The result was expected very much of cautious girl, but boys too are not behind. Lot of people mention that they do start worrying about their appearance when someone gives them a look. But in some it depends on the person who is looking at them. A lot of boys are not worried about their appearance throughout the day, girls on the other hand have answered that they do think of their appearance even when away from the mirror. Majority of the girls want to be head turners or center of attraction when in a group, they just make sure to dress up in such a way that every friend of theirs should notice them. Not a major portion of boys prefer doing that but there is a majority in boys too who prefer being noticed in a group. Mirror is the best friend Charlie Chaplin said. A lot of girls have taken it too seriously; they do not miss an opportunity to look into the mirror. Boys on the other hand have majority both from, who treat mirror as their best friend looking at them every opportunity they get and also who look at the mirror 3-5 times a day, which sounds an odd number but a lot of us reading and writing this report have the same routine. But a surprising response for time to suit themselves, majority of boys are more than majority of girls in taking ’15 minutes to dress up for a day’. So boys do make sure that they look good when they leave the dressing table and majority of girls take lesser time to do the same. That is because majority of boys consider the clothing as the important part of their appearance but girls on the other hand have an opinion stating that facial looks and expressions are also equally important. About 58% of boys whom we got responses from had to say that they prefer stylish and attractive dressing over simple clothing. And 50% of girls said the same the 8% difference makes a difference. But given an option between comfort and attractive clothing both boys and girls prefer comfort clothing. Or they tend to choose comfortable clothes which are also attractive. The amount of girls frequent visiting the saloons are more than the number of boys doing the same. Because as already mentioned girls consider other aspects other than just good

But on the other hand only 16% of boys completely agree that cosmetics are necessary. Hence coming to a conclusion that boys are more cautious about their appearance when it comes to dressing up for any occasion but girls are not behind they are cautious in their own way about their appearance. REPORT ON CAUTIOSNESS OF PEOPLE DEPENDING ON SITUATIONS. Is my hairstyle fine? Does my shirt look ok? My deodorant fragrance hope hasn’t faded! Are some of the things running in a boy’s mind when he is talking to a girl. Do I look fat? Is my hair alright? Are some of the things running in a girl’s mind when having a conversation with a boy. A lot of people, who dress up simple and walk out of their room casually, tend to suddenly become cautious about their appearances when they meet or talk to or face someone. In some people this is restricted to when they meet someone of opposite sex, but in some it happens with the type of people they meet. A very less light can be thrown on the cautiousness of people for photography. When a camera is pointed to people some start worrying about their oily face, crippled T- shirt, messy hair, pose they give, some refuse to be a part of the pic. But on the other hand some just give a wide hilarious smile and pose ‘weirdo’ to the camera. The famous line of trolling on Facebook goes ‘When girls pose for pic the gravity tends to suddenly increase’ and ‘when boys pose for a pic they become tougher than usual’. The small study that we carried on in a span of about 3 days, we can conclude with a small observation that there are people whose cautiousness varies depending on the people they are with or the situation they are in.
