and address audiences.These platforms are used to promote the
film and engage with the target audiences. In addition, it also
creates a buzz prior to the release.
■ Conventionally, one of the most powerful platforms is the film’s
website.This is very often the first thing consumers search for when
they are looking for the trailer as well as other vital details.This is
usually the case as a film website should be a movie’s central hub of
information.

3. ■ Film websites are constantly improving thanks to newer
technologies such as social medias. Platforms such as Facebook,
Twitter and Instagram all complement film websites as they give
curious fans access to additional information and sometimes hidden
scenes. Once embedded into the site, the film website becomes the
most significant platform to a film without a doubt.
■ It is for that reason that our production team made not only a crisp
looking film website but also social medias to accompany it.

My research into the film website genre started by gathering a range of film websites with
different genres in order to identify genre conventions. I achieved this with Scoop.it! And
a Pinterest board I created below.
Most films include the following genre conventions:
■ Release date information
■ Synopsis/storyline
■ Awards and nominations and/or critics’ ratings
■ Names of cast, crew members and all companies/studios involved
■ Images and videos of the main cast
■ Trailer
■ Social media buttons and icons
5. Construction
■ I created my website in WIX I wanted it to look modern and contemporary
■ To do this I used a range of abstract shapes and different technologies to make it stand
out
■ One of the technologies I used was a video background for the main page, this was
composed of a few short clips throughout our film that I put together on iMovie
■ Furthermore I created a trailer for my website on iMovie and added all our media’s in a
bar at the side as well as an Instagram Feed at the bottom
6. Construction
■ I also made sure my website was compatible for viewing on a smartphone, I used a
feature onWIX where I could edit the display of my website on a smartphone.
■ Because smart phone screens are smaller, I made minor changes such as: making the
icons larger, adjusting texts and shapes to fit on the screen and overall make it look
more simple and tidy.
■ Furthermore, I integrated my website with my postcard by creating a QR code.When
scanned by a smartphone, it will direct users to my website.
