3. Uncountable nouns
Are nouns which we can`t count.
Uncountable nouns have only singular forms.
These nouns include:
Food: cheese, butter, salt, spaghetti, etc.
Liquids: coffee, milk, water, tea, lemonade,
etc.
4. quantifiers:
We use the following nouns before
uncountable nouns to show quantity:
Bottle: a bottle of Coke, two bottles of …
Glass: a glass of water, three glasses of…
Carton: a carton of milk, ……
Cup: a cup of coffee, two cups of …
Pack: a pack of spaghetti……
Slice: a slice of cheese, …
Pound: a pound of meat, four pound of meat…
Bar: a car of chocolate, ten bars of chocolate
5. Quantifiers
SOME
We use in the affirmative with either countable
nouns in the plural or uncountable nouns.
We need some strawberries for your smoothie.
Note: we use some in the interrogative for offers or
reguests.
Would you like some tea? (offer)
Can I have some grape juice, please? (request)
6. ANY
We use any i the negative and interrogative
with countable nouns in the plural and
uncountable nouns.
There isn´t any bread left.
Are there any cookies in the kitchen?
7. Much and many
We use much an many in the negative and
interrogative.We use much with uncountable
nouns, and many with plural countable nouns.
She doesn´t drink much coffee, she prefers to
drink tea.
Is there much milk for your breakfast.
I don´t have many chairs.
Do you need many pens?
