As you can see I have been with Volunteers of America for 11 years and have had several roles. Most of that time has been spent in quality improvement, which naturally goes hand in hand with performance improvement. Instruction was always a part of these roles, as quality improvement requires a high level of subject matter expertise that organizations then expect you to share with others for the purposes of quality and performance improvement.
I am currently finishing my Masters of Science of Instructional Design & Learning Technology and expect to Graduate this May.
I earned my bachelors degree from Denison University, where I double majored in Political Science and German. I was lucky enough to spend my Junior year studying in Munich and immersing myself in the language and culture of Germany, before returning for my senior year and graduating with honors.
I earned Level II certification with the Relias Learning Management system in 2019. Volunteers of America has used the system for a number of years and I became an administrator for Relias in 2016.
I was also lucky enough to become a VitalSmarts certified instructor for Crucial Conversations in 2018. I am passionate about the curriculum and love getting a chance to help others improve relationships and performance through Crucial Conversations.
More recently, in March 2019 I was certified as a Handle with Care Behavior Management System instructor. I am eager to put this new expertise to use and join our other certified trainers in helping staff de-escalate clients and handle aggressive behavior in ways that ensure safety and positive outcomes for clients and staff.
Career wise, I would like to use my skills and abilities in instructional design and performance improvement to help more people reach their true professional potential.
I plan to continue to develop my knowledge and skills and want to be considered a subject matter expert in instructional design and performance technology
I am also seeking to expand my professional network to include more experienced SMEs in instructional design and performance technology
Through the Master’s program at Franklin University and my professional experience, I have developed competencies in Instructional Design, Learning Theory, and Performance Improvement. I hope to keep improving on these competencies and continuously learning more as I gain further experience.
Over the past two years my knowledge and abilities related to learning technologies has grown exponentially. I have experience with multiple LMS system, am proficient with a number of Microsoft applications, as well as other authoring tools and online applications for enhanced learning experiences.
I want to share some of the Instructional Design and Performance Improvement Projects I have had the pleasure of working on.
I designed a comprehensive eLearning course on Safe Sleep and deployed the course in MoodleCloud, TalentCards, and the Relias LMS.
I used Adobe Captivate to create an interactive eLearning module for Supervisors at Volunteers of America around the agency’s client complaints and grievance policies and procedures.
In collaboration with a co-worker, we designed, developed and implemented a leadership development program for front-line staff. I’m very proud of this program, which received recognition and acclaim at the local and national levels of our organization. As a result, many new connections were made across the country, and we continue to be called on for consultation.
I have also worked on several Performance Improvement Initiatives. Most recently I completed a Performance Improvement Project for Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana that focused on improving supervisor performance through learning interventions and other organizational and process improvement efforts. These initiatives required a high level of cooperation and subject matter expertise that I was able to contribute to each project.
I am looking forward to many more opportunities to use my Instructional Design and Performance Improvement expertise to help others reach toward their professional potential, while I continue to learn and grow my own knowledge and skills.
I hope you will reach out to me about collaboration, making connections, or other professional opportunities.
Thanks so much.
